Your call on the phone number but these days Google is everyone's friend.
If you see a truck drive past with the company name and phone number of something you need, you don't go racing after the truck to try and write the phone number down. At your leisure you Google the company name and, voila, the contact details are there. In the past 10 years I don't think we have ever embroidered a phone number on anyone"s shirts or caps. However, we do embroider a lot of web addresses over the rear arch on caps.

We're certainly going to have a website, but its just going to be basic, HTML5 template which works on mobile and looks nice on both, modify it to be basic, maybe 5 or 6 pages kinda thing.
Have a page there where we can show some of our work (with customer consent of course) with some nice photos etc. I actually do have a domain name registered (www.rdautoelectrics.com.au) but its just being used for email and its parked at the moment until we sort out what template we are going to use etc. I still want the phone number on uniforms though. Also with the designs, if you could make the R&D Auto Electrics name big, rather than just a small design, it could be rather large to take up a large part of the shirt for example so its visible. Myself I think XY GS is on the right track, the signs and business cards look ace, uniform logo might need some adjusting in a way that its more visible rather than something suitable to be printed/embroided on a pocket for example. The deadline is the 20th, so its an opportunity to get back to me for feedback and I've gotta run it past my business partner as he has a say in this as well. Anyone viewing this thread is welcome to give their opinions and ideas on the matter, even if you aren't a competitor, its all good feedback. Last edited by Franco Cozzo; 07-05-2015 at 11:06 PM. |

We just have shirts I can post up a pic over the next we bit if you want but no phone number just business name. Some guys wear overalls which is the same deal. . . I refuse to wear them
Never have an issue with people finding contact details. Sign written vehicles is the biggest one, Hiace vans are brilliant a moving bill board and heaps of storage for electrical and tools.

At the moment we're not going to have a company vehicle but if the business grows and makes some alright money I'm not opposed to it, but we really don't want to get into the business of call outs or onsite work as its just too much of a hassle, you're trying to work in someones driveway or paddock, don't have access to all your tools in the shop, customer isn't willing to pay extra for you to take longer on the job because you don't have everything you usually do in the shop. If its that bad that it needs doing and the car is imobile, for the price of your average call out fee the car could be towed to the shop anyway. We've got a tow truck company who is willing to cut us a good rate and work with us. If we did in the future it would most likely only be basic A/C work like regassing, most likely for panel shops and I'd be keen on a van (and sign writing on van). This is what I've come up with.
The only thing is that I've found it hard to include anything automotive as it was starting to look to busy and couldn't get it to work. But the negative (-) and positive (+) will at least represent the electrical side of the business, and to me the logo represents a battery. I found it pretty entertaining to work on, so I'm not fussed if it's not the winner. Still had a good time. |

Probably not, we're looking to keep it as just me and business partner for the forseeable future.
Also 5 days left on the competition guys, if you want to make any changes or any new competitors want to enter the ring there are only 5 competitors so far, 4 of which I have seen their work so far. |

Hello guys,
The competition has closed, and we have a winner declared. XR227 has snuck in at the last minute with his redesign to win the competition, my business partner has agreed on his design. We need to make some final changes here and there, to suit as they come up. Thank you to the admins and mods here at AFF for allowing this to happen, as well as everyone who took time to enter the competition as well as people who offered feedback and their support, we have a multi-talented community here at AFF and it has been fantastic to be able to draw on your skills. Regards Damo |

Bit of an update to this thread,
XR227 was the winner and the reward was paid out, some of his work in action: More to come later. I would like to thank everyone here who entered the competition, I really appreciate the effort you all went through in designing logos and throwing out ideas or suggestions. |

At some stage in the future its likely we will become a forum sponsor, I've just got to organise freight, I've got Victoria covered without a problem but unfortunately at the moment I can't do interstate until I find a courier/freight company willing to work with us.
