I just had 02 84042216 rung me about 10 minutes ago. it rang once and then hung up. I did not call back as I had read this posting before and realised it was probably one of those scam things. Although a couple of months ago I rang one back from my work phone and they told me I had won a prize blah blah blah, I hung up eventually. Don't know about the bill though but the phone I used was a communal work one.

I wonder if they just punch in mobile numbers randomly or if they are in a specific order? If my mobile was 0412345678 then I wonder if the next one is 0412345679 etc etc.

Very close to the numbers quoted.

I had a missed call from that number Thurday 22/06/06 at 12:58

No message was left so i didnt return the call.
If you cant leave a message, then you dont get a call back.
Even if the number is displayed or not!

I suppose when they catch them they'll be made to apologise.
So like the simpsons they'll change the message and the autodialler will begin with:

"Congratulations, you have just won an apology from us. To receive this apology, just call 190..........etc"

Or better yet. "I'm sorry. If you would like to forgive me please put $2 in an envelope and mail it to sorrydude; 742 evergreen terrace."

A new exciting element for this scam, my flatmate just got a txt on his mobile that ties in to this it says.

Free msg: No date for tonight yet? Meet funny and exciting singles from your area! Call 02 8404 2222. Just normal call costs! 2 Stop reply STOP.

Wonder what this one does... wacky bastards.
