So moral of the story is keep an eye on the police auctions and you might score a bargain?
Honestly, I have no sympathy for someone who loses their car. We've got a reception centre over the road and a few weeks back people having a function there blocked off all the streets around the intersection and started doing burnouts late at night. Completely filled our place with tyre smoke, which at least didn't end up as tragic as the article above. |

If the owner of a 200K muscle car is dumb enough to mix with a bunch of morons and do burn out on public roads after already having been caught before in the same car, it's just nature and natural selection taking it's course. Also considering this story was written in 2008, and the 'Hoon Laws' legislation came into force on the 1st of July 2012, it might be time for the OP to do a bit more research before posting links to 'beat up' stories Also slightly confused about how ICE dealers relate to any of this, pretty sure we have drug laws that deal with that as well as drug squats why would traffic police employed to deal with traffic related offences interfere with what the drug squat does, that would be like someone complaining that the electrician wiring the house does not lay the bricks.

So what the bulk of you are saying is it's ok to be a ****wit ripping skids on the street
As long as it's in a $200,000 car If it were a busted **** VN V6 single pegger, you would say serves the idiot right, but because it's allegedly a GT it's cops against the enthusiasts The story's 8 years old so I'm guessing it's BS written buy someone who's heard some BS story down the pub.

And probably did not read or under stand the article either, as the first sentence is: "The latest victim of the tough new anti-hoon laws is a classic Ford Falcon GT. " Jealousy is a curse. Keep saving you pennies and you might get there one day...

Some light reading about Hoon legislation for those interested, you would have to put in a serious effort to have your car permanently confiscated:
http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/roads/safe...-offences.html https://www.gotocourt.com.au/traffic-law/nsw/hoon-laws/ Also appears there may be some other issues with the vehicle OP's original post as these laws only came into effect in 2012.

Ok, so the article refers to hoon laws in 2008 but you say there were no hoon laws until 2012. Yeah makes sense, I hope other members of the police force are brighter than you.
Where did I say it happened yesterday anyway? I acknowledged the date three posts later when it was pointed out to me...big sh!!!t. I also did not realize I had to be an expert on a subject to post a link to a story. Go play cop in your 5 person town, but I bet the locals would probably put you on your ar$e if you gave them the attitude you have behind a keyboard. Better off just to give attitude from the safety of your living room. |

If we can stop the personal bickering this thread may last a little longer.

The fact remains that the Bill was introduced into Parliament in 2008, and was introduced into law in July 2012, where police have the option of seizing cars for sanctionable offences as outlined in the 2012 legislation. Sanctionable offences include, street racing, burn outs, police pursuits, and speeding of 45km/hr and over. There was no hoon legislation in 2008, it was a proposed Bill before Parliament in 2008. It's pretty basic stuff that is well documented. QUOTE : In 2012, police officers were granted powers to apply roadside sanctions if you are caught committing one of the sanctionable offences. These powers are contained under Part 7.6 of the Road Transport Act 2013. Now police officers can seize and take charge of your car, remove and confiscate your number plates If you are found guilty of one of the above offences and it is not the first time you have been convicted of the same offence within 5 years, your car will be forfeited

I am guessing you don't understand what a Bill is and how laws are made There have always been confiscation laws for certain situations, but specific hoon legislation came into being in 2012, them is the facts whether you like (or understand it) or not.
