So is the site gonna be up working anytime soon? It's kinda pointless driving around with stickers displaying a website that doesn't even work! lol

It's not looking good. Someone else has control of the domain and I've seen that puppies thing, blastsearch.net and some .nu advertising / business portal site linked to our beloved domain in the past few days.

I've tred contacting the original domain registration company and they are no help. I got in touch with Casper and yesterday he said he was trying to re-register it, haven't heard since and there's no change in its behaviour.

I'm quite worried that we've lost it and all our branded stuff is written off.

There's websites out there that list instantly expired domains for the purpose of people snapping them up for profit. Quite competitive.

I'm hoping these "businessmen" can be reasoned with like human beings and we can try to appeal to the new owner from the non-profit club / organisation perspective that we are.

Eg.. http://www.aufalcon.com.au/james22xr8
And if you try to access from your link of course it doesn't contain a .au

All the data is there and the system is intact, just no domain name, which drives that part of it. It will have to be patched and worked on to run as the .com.au properly.

fwiw, I changed .com to .com.au in my shortcuts and it resolves to http://www.aufalcon.com.au/cgi-bin/index.cgi without any probs.

An update. The domain belongs to an anonymous reseller who bought it through enom.com, a company specialising in helping people buy and sell domains for investment and profit.

I have submitted a request to have it handed back to us, describing our non-profit club and hope that they will be nice about it, otherwise we could be required to pay a sum greater than the normal registration fees to get it back.

I thought all .au names were covered by the the ICANN dispute resolution policy?

If so, I would have thought that the Institute of Arbitratiors would hand it back.

In this case, you've got them on bad faith alone.

It's a pain in the bum though. A client of mine had to go through this last year. It can be expensive.

The sad thing is, whoever has the domain now will not hand it back unless a certain 'fee' is paid. Their whole purpose is to get it and sell it back at a profit.

It's like pleading with a con man that you need your money back that he has taken more than he does...

If you think about it, the people who now own the domain are probably watching this post now, to see what we are saying and assessing what they can get for the sale back....

On a side note... I was fooling round on Facebook, and thought I saw someone familiar...

I understand *our* dilemma with the .com on the clothing/stickers etc (I'm not attempting to diminish what that may mean to those affected) but apart from that the aufalcon.com domain is not really a lot of use to anyone is it?

Who apart from us (and we have .com.au) would want a domain for a 6+ year old car?
An au wrecker?
An au enthusiast?

So it begs the question "what is it worth"?

(or am I missing something?)

It's worth something to us, no there won't be a bidding war but someone will most likely make a few $$$ out of this as they know we want it.

i think that everyone would sooner order and pay for new AUfalcon.com.au merchandise than pay these scummy domain squatters for the domain back.

might be worth looking into other avenues. that way, these s have just wasted their money...dont give in to them, giving their industry more fuel to exist!

No news yet.

The domain expired and we were meant to have 30 days to re-register it before it got into someone else's hands, yet they managed to get it from us. The last I heard is that someone was trying to find out about getting it back from the domain company who it was originally registered through.

I also contacted the company on the Monday last week and haven't heard back from them.

The woman is probably just some royalty-free stock photography shot used on a few websites.
