yes I am sure useles is a real mean traffic light racer who is all about 0-100k max.

This is where the lack of low down torque hurts the genIII the most.

Once wound up it will pull away obviously.

Even 0-100 on an equal run the Gen3 will have me for sure. They are not rockets off the line but neither is an auto Falcon.
My cars no slug but I'm also well aware of its limitations. The Gen3 is a fast car, simple as that.

I have lined up against a gen III at the drags and all I can say is that it would take a hell of an I6 to beat them 0-100 or down the 1/4

I've beaten a couple down the 1/4, but lost to about a dozen others :gren:

On the street Casper...that is what I am talking about. The gen 3 cars are not as quick as I thought they would be on the street. It is really horses for courses. A modified gen 3 may beat me at these speeds.I dont really know. But what I do know that the cam setup and cam timing has alot to do when peak torque is produced.

In the specified settings I would not beat a gen 3. Now with the cam a tad advanced and the unichip low to mid power =very good.Maybe not a 1/4 mile killer but a good street car...which is where I spend most of my time.Actually around 800 km per week here in Sydney for work.So I get an idea...and yep sure probably you are much quicker than me down the quarter..I dont know...but for me a 1/4 mile on the street just doesnt happen. It is about peoples likes and dislikes..thats all.

Some like circuit racing ..some like 1/4 mile..me I like a good street car for every day....
Maybe a legal 1/4 mile run with gtech will let you all know that I am not that quick?Maybe will ...??? Ill just have to wait for the right opportunity .?

OK - time for some numbers. I just signed up on LS1.COM.AU, navigated my way to the timeslip database and found the SLOWEST gen3 up there and compared it to mine.

In a hypathetical drag between myself and this gen 3:
CAR - RWKW - 60’ - 1/8 - ¼ ET & MPH
VY 2 SS ute - 191.1 - 2.450 - 9.721 - 14.822@95.84
EF Sedan - 146.2 - 2.220 - 9.512 - 14.843@91.34

On other runs I had better MPH, but that was my fastest ET by a few 1/100ths. So as sad as it is on my best run I cant beat the slowest gen III down the 1/4 :

If you dont care about 1/4 mile time, look at the 1/8 which is more of an indication of on-road performance. I managed to get my 3.08 open wheeler to hook up surprisingly well that pass with a 2.2 60'. With my lucky launch I managed to pull 2 tenths on the gen 3 which I held to the 1/8 mile at which time I was doing a touch under 120kph. Given that my car does 0-100 in 6.1s, and Useless gets his to 100 in about 7 flat (very respectable time there for the wagon), it is pretty clear that any gen 3 that either of us beat either isnt trying very hard or had a very bad run.

...and thats just the slowest gen3 in the database :

I agree the falcon auto is no traffic light racer but in mine which only does 2.36 for the 60' and 10 sec at 71 for the eighth I have not been embarrased by V8 gen III wagons and Statesmans. Not beaten them either and wouldn't but they are not driving past me like a BA XR8 auto or an HSV Clubsport does.

On Sunday..at the lights a monaro came up next to me on the left while in front of me was the right of way.In front of him was parked cars.Who did he think he was ? So I fanged it ,he fanged the crap out of it head to head near to the parked cars and I slammed on the brakes to not smash this moron!!It had some fancy number plates like me5.7l??

This guys face showed astonishment!!Now if he wasnt trying I will sell my AU tommorow and buy a bicycle.!!!

Iknow people find it hard to believe that the wagon is running very well on the street ..but its not my fault people have installed impressive dyno day cars with bigger cams than mine and retarded heaps killing their low down power!!..

I have been fooled into believing dyno numbers which are nothing short of crap....

I think that dyno dynamics should pull their finger out and have a standard calibration across the country for all of their dynos ,the variances give no true indication or consistency of power.Great for each workshop to tune ..and great for the ls1 guys to brag but who cant pull away from me in a 0-100 run!!!

The dev 4 flies Brendan..it friggin flies mate. I hope people learn from my mistakes and just go buy a gtech and time their vehicle for true performance gains.

For a daily driven family/work car it is not necessary. They do advise the springs if you rev it many times.

The Gen 3 statement is a big one. There is not a Gen 3 alive that wouldn't wax your car over the first 100.

The Gen 3 statement is based on a few upset gen 3 drivers on the streets of Sydney and 1 brand new monaro owner. I have never found an ss commy that can pull away from me at street legal speeds. No big deal ..if one does beat me I wil post it up.

Yes I did get beaten by a monaro a month ago but that is the only one that I remember. Many monaros are way overated.

Yes a mini s did pass me ...but not by much. That car is underrated and would smoke ss commies no probs.

I agree the genIII pulls away real HARD when it revs out in second and third.

They do lack torque though 460NM sounds good but its up high at 4400rpm.

So on the street 0-60 -100k you could get close.

for instance look at these numbers:
0-60kmh 100Kmh
VY V6 S Auto 3.4 7.6
VY V8 Auto 3.6 7.3
BA V8 Auto 3.5 7.4
BA XR6 AutoS 3.9 8.1

Now this is just getting rediculous, like Chris said, GEN3's are fast, you cant beat them, and neither can a mini s. Hell, i know i get pasted by SS's all the time and i dont hide it, im proud to be in a country that builds them, so one day i will buy one its just one of those things. Upset monaro guy was probably upset coz he may of had to change down from 3th after peacefully pulling off the lights ... and meets you. Menacing up beside him, and clearly not allowing him to merge safly from the parked cars infront of him.

does no one else see something wrong here????!!!

Well, I know how fast my car is and I know that, given the right launch I can hold a gen3 till 80kph before it starts climbing alll over me in a serious way.
Head to head to 100kph....I'm toast. No ifs, buts or maybe's.

Basically if Useless can beat them to 100kph then they have slower Gen3's in NSW or his wagon is quicker then my Sedan. Simple as that really.
