I would never say Ponting had nothing to do with the team strategy over in India, however he would have had minimal impact during the matches simply because Gilchrist, as the captain, made the important decisions such as bowling changes and field placement. When you aren't on the field, you effectively control nothing.

My nickname is Hawk because I actually have brown and golden feathers covering my body and wings, I am a sort of medical curiosity.
Seriously though, I am definately a Hawthorn fan, I didn't want to have to knock out all of my front teeth just to support Collingwood.

Cricket today is most uninspirational ! Bring back the days of Dennis Lillee , Rodney Marsh, Karl Rackemann, Jeff Thompson, Rodney Hogg, Graham Wood , Bruce Yardley, The Chappels, Alderman, Lawson, Whitney, Wessels, Baird, Toohey, Kym Hughes ! Those were the days when players had personality and charisma ! These days , the players are are as bland as a lettuce salad with no dressing !

Ponting is doing a good enough job atm, there isnt anyone really apart from him upto the job. Maybe one of the younger blokes should step up into the position?
