just forget the cost of the hose, just think of the savings of doing something more serious that would lead on from being a jew with a hose, cough headgasket

The only reason i ask for a price is because my mechanic wants me to replace me water pump which will set me back $200, and the 3 ppl i have spoken too a mate damo and JJM have all said its a heater hose.

The leak is coming from under the passenger foot well just beside the fron left wheel, and only drips after ive been out the night before with the heater on.

I just dont want to be stuck one night with no water.

if u leave heater on will actually put less stress/pressure on that hose, that same one went on my car.

I'd be looking at the heater tap. If it were a hose I'd suggest it would have gotten a lot worse by now.

Yeah I'd have a look at that as well.

My heater tap had a small crack in it. This allowed the leaking coolant to spray all over the inhibitor switch on the trans, causing it to fail and not select any gears on the way down Mt Dandenong one night :S

I had a leak in the same place as the thread starter on my EL.
There's the heater hose that goes into the back of the water pump. It just sits in there with an o ring, and a clamp on the metal pipe to the block holding it tight.
It's easy just to undo the clamp, pull the pipe back 10mm, replace the o ring (oil it in vege oil first) and push it back in. You just have to be carefull to get it in even and not twisted.
I did that 18 months ago and never had a leak there since.
My first attempt still leaked, but I didn't get it sitting straight and hadn't oiled it.
