Czechs worry about, US, er only maybe. I almost feel sorry for Côte d'Ivoir and Serbia & Montenegro. Argentina and Netherlands, ouch. Australia can progress and do well IF the players actually play near the top of their game.

As for a sport that matters only a couple billion will be watching the biggest world cup of any sport so I suppose that doesn't count compared to Nancy boys trying to control an egg : :thebirds: :
The minority follow Soccer in this country. And most of them were in Cronulla over the weekend. Only has about 2% following in this country. The rest of society couldn't care much for one of the most boring games in the world. The only entertainment factor in the game is when flares go off in the crowd, or the poppy supporters start bashing people cause their team just got knocked out.

World Game indeed, pffttttt, my left testicle. Certainly not in this country

I'll watch to support the Aussies. But when it's finished, Soccer? World Cup? Bring on the AFL. So

I wouldn't boast about ping pong either in the big scheme of things

oh and ping pong is innocent ? come on !

Fifa ranking dont always mean that much particually at the world cup. Czechs are good but US are NOT in Italys league. Id be very suprised if they can score through Italys defence and keeper as easy as they have with some nations they quilified against.

I'm so excited about this world cup. Go Italy and Go Australia. If they played against each other, I wouldn't know who to back.

The US is similiar to Australia though, their players are now expanding and playing in the top domestic competitions around the world. That diversity and experience could see them go along way if the team clicks as a unit.

Yes Brazil will be tough but it will be great to see our boys go up against the worlds best even if we don't make it through, saying that I still think we have a good chance if they play to there potential there is no reason they can't be runner up in our group

A number of the US players wouldn't even get into the Aussie side.

I wouldn't underestimate the US. They are highly underrated. They've been embracing football as a minority sport (behind the usual basketball, baseball, gridiron, etc.) for a lot longer than we have now and actually have a 1/2 decent domestic league. I would say they are certainly a better team than Australia, but how much better remains a mystery.

US are not a better team than Australia, they are a very good team (just look how well they went last time) for a country were soccer is a minority game but everyone seems to be under estimating how well Australia can play on a good day (and how poorly they can play on an off day)
Brazil are football gods, but even gods can be brought down.....

We can beat the Japs (we did in the war, but this is more important : ) croatia will be on the level of uruguay, brazil may be a challenge unless they underestimate us, which people tend to do.
I will be cheering my team on in every game, albeit from the couch, but still cheering none the less.
CMON AUSSIE!!!!!!!!! : :
Did the Aussie's beat the Japs in the war - or was that someone else??????? :
