Comment was not intended towards you....hence i clarified in an edit. I'm as passionate about the brand as anyone on here and wear the brand high. My comments are simply tempered by some cynicism. I understand what people are saying and we need some positives.....i wont make any more comments as its not my intent to upset anyone....we're all on the same side. Was just purting a reality check out there......I interpreted the article in a different way... Each to their own.

Did someone say Ford's marketing sucks
Not the normal tv adds but here we have a rumour spread
Rumour confirmed by Ford
Rumour denied & changed by FPV
Press runs with it all - free advertising at its best

I have heard about this car from someone and i was told to watch out for it but when i read same power it didn't sound right - obviously it was't

Happy Days

I think the article is deliberately misleading. The headline states "new GTHO model coming" not "possibly," but states it as a fact. The only thing the article mentions about a GTHO is likening the new Panther as an "equivalent of the old GTHO." Sorry, but I really hate this kind of journalism - just trying to make it sound better than it really is. If Ford does do a GTHO, I would hope they use the 5.8 SC from the GT500 or a twin turbo 5.0 with DI. A "teaked" GT motor wouldn't do the name any justice.

That's fine, the article was still misleading, the rest of my post was an opinion of what engine a GTHO should have.

So FPV should put a different engine in, at more cost just for 100 odd cars?

Heaps good idea~!

No they should sell the same car, add 10kw, slap on a GTHO badge and expect it to sell for $200k. Then everyone on this forum should wonder why this class-leading car isn't selling. Much better than using the engine from the GT500.

Yes, because FPV can afford to implement another engine into the falcon, forget all there development they have done on the Miami, and go on a waiting list for SVT/Shelby 5.8's...

All they could tweak a package that is already good for high 12's, pump up the already high power, throw those wider rims on it, matched to a returned suspension and slap some GTHO (but they prob wont, because people want 500kw XT's with V8 super car bodykits for a GTHO) badges on it, and watch them sell out before the hit the floor.

Now you have a a lot of positive hype to talk about, a car knocking HSV further off there perch, and giving Ford fans something to be happy with.

You're right that it would be much easier to do that (I'm definitely not arguing with you on that one), but I think it's the risk vs reward thing. Put in a little and what do you expect to get? I'm not suggesting the car's performance would be inadequate by doing that, but image and sales performance might be.

There's plenty of headroom in the current Maimi engine, for which by any reasoned analysis FPV made a really ballsey move by investing $40m in the first place.

The market size is 27 million population in Aust / N.Z. not 300 million +

There's a lot of excuses not to do it, but that GT500 engine already exists. HSV did it with the 427, but let FPV play it safe.

Yeah but HSV have been importing donks for years. Why the hell would FPV throw away all the development $$$$ to import a motor from America for a one off? Hell the Miami probably has enough head room to go toe to toe with the GT500.

tweak what they already have, raise the power a bit and you have a GTHO 351. will sell before they hit the dealers floor

Well said, and I have also supported FPV by way of spending the Aussie $$$ on a new GT...I suggest to all the people that keep holding off for the newer model, jump on board now when this "Panther" is released and lets get a big spike in the FPV sales bar graph...I can't see the GT getting much better than this from the factory.

Most negative comments on here are as I have said before pure frustration. It's painful to see something your passionate about and support for most of your driving life stop and disappear.

Even if it is assembled in Australia, it's all the Coyote (imported from America) - with a supercharger. It makes no difference. Yes, you can crank the supercharger, put out more power and torque, but you don't need Ford to sell you a GTHO to do that.

So your point is, you don't want to see a GTHO with a supercharged 5.8L (351) with 485kw/810Nm? Fair enough... But it's hard to get excited about a product that is much less powerful than other top-of-the-line products.

:( I hope they don't make it just a limited edition and ask millions for it. So the average Joe is priced out of the market and can't even afford a second hand one in a few years time. Might be why their sales are down too. Asking too much?

Not being argumentative, but go compare the prices of the FPV line-up to the equivalent HSV line-up, then come back and tell me if they are over priced. Not arguing, just attempting to provide part of the answer as you have aksed are the current FPV prices too high

+1

I would expect it to exceed 300kmh, the GT500 Mustang does well over that, but yeah...300kmh is my target.

I think everyone should stop bashing on a vehicle that hasn't even been released yet. What details do we know of this car? Not enough to make this kind of speculation, that's for sure.

Everyone just calm down and wait till we get some more definitive details about this car.

Eerr it is more powerful then it's main rival already. GT500 mustang isn't in our market so it isn't top of the line in Oz.
