I think the article is deliberately misleading. The headline states "new GTHO model coming" not "possibly," but states it as a fact. The only thing the article mentions about a GTHO is likening the new Panther as an "equivalent of the old GTHO." Sorry, but I really hate this kind of journalism - just trying to make it sound better than it really is. If Ford does do a GTHO, I would hope they use the 5.8 SC from the GT500 or a twin turbo 5.0 with DI. A "teaked" GT motor wouldn't do the name any justice.

So FPV should put a different engine in, at more cost just for 100 odd cars?
Heaps good idea~!

Yes, because FPV can afford to implement another engine into the falcon, forget all there development they have done on the Miami, and go on a waiting list for SVT/Shelby 5.8's... All they could tweak a package that is already good for high 12's, pump up the already high power, throw those wider rims on it, matched to a returned suspension and slap some GTHO (but they prob wont, because people want 500kw XT's with V8 super car bodykits for a GTHO) badges on it, and watch them sell out before the hit the floor. Now you have a a lot of positive hype to talk about, a car knocking HSV further off there perch, and giving Ford fans something to be happy with.

You're right that it would be much easier to do that (I'm definitely not arguing with you on that one), but I think it's the risk vs reward thing. Put in a little and what do you expect to get? I'm not suggesting the car's performance would be inadequate by doing that, but image and sales performance might be.

There's plenty of headroom in the current Maimi engine, for which by any reasoned analysis FPV made a really ballsey move by investing $40m in the first place.

tweak what they already have, raise the power a bit and you have a GTHO 351. will sell before they hit the dealers floor

Well said, and I have also supported FPV by way of spending the Aussie $$$ on a new GT...I suggest to all the people that keep holding off for the newer model, jump on board now when this "Panther" is released and lets get a big spike in the FPV sales bar graph...I can't see the GT getting much better than this from the factory. Most negative comments on here are as I have said before pure frustration. It's painful to see something your passionate about and support for most of your driving life stop and disappear.

So your point is, you don't want to see a GTHO with a supercharged 5.8L (351) with 485kw/810Nm? Fair enough... But it's hard to get excited about a product that is much less powerful than other top-of-the-line products. |

:( I hope they don't make it just a limited edition and ask millions for it. So the average Joe is priced out of the market and can't even afford a second hand one in a few years time. Might be why their sales are down too. Asking too much?

I would expect it to exceed 300kmh, the GT500 Mustang does well over that, but yeah...300kmh is my target. Bring on the horsepower wars like the good old days! |

I think everyone should stop bashing on a vehicle that hasn't even been released yet. What details do we know of this car? Not enough to make this kind of speculation, that's for sure.
Everyone just calm down and wait till we get some more definitive details about this car. |
