The reality is car companies are now turning to turbo and superchargers to reduce the displacement of the engine while maintaining power and fuel efficiency. A turbo charged vehicle does not equal hoon driver.

This is a little step back towards common sense.

Most small displacement petrol engines are boosted by a turbo . I can't think of many supercharged ones (except twin charge vw which are being phased out anyway) .

Technical Contributor: For members who share their technical expertise. - Issue reason: Trev has owned several boosted fords and has really contributed a lot of info on them. His posts in the bike section are also very helpful. I think he should be recognised as a technical contributor.

Up until 2009 Mini Cooper S was supercharged then they went to Turbo.

All it really means is that the P platers still can't drive any FPV, XR6T, HSV, SS or anything cool like that.

All this does is makes it a bit harder to police for your average copper.

The biggest mistake people make is thinking you need a lot of power to do something stupid in a motor vehicle, im sure many of the older folk on the forum would admit they are here today more by good luck than great driving skills they had as youngsters, I think back to my younger more foolish experiences and shake my head.
the problem is a young dick head is very hard to change from being a young dick head, because at that age we think we know it all and are indestrucatable.
Road rules and car education are all good and well but if said young dick headis in the mood for mischief and has a steering wheel in his hands, not having a turbo or 2/4 extra cylanders wont make a dam bit of difference.
