People pick a colour first and then the read name underneath...same as they do with house paints for the kitchen...a pair of shoes..etc...etc. Maybe a colour named after out national capital... Canberra Politician...sort of a misty hard to pin down colour which vanishes when the heat is on and changes colour when the wind blows from another direction? Just a thought... Peter. |

Really it's for the same reason why
A patio us now called an "alfresco" A rodeo (the name it was called for years) is now a "Colorado". Why every master bedroom has an "ensuite". It's a name. Nothing else. While the we might think that hero colours shouldn't be deleted, they weren't the biggest sellers. When the GT was brought back, it was an in your face, pardon the pun, rolling advertising campaign. Same as the reconstituted monaro. By the a few years later, it was just another car in the makers lineup.... Hero colors are great, but only bought by peope who are genuine enthusiast, & want to display it loud & proud. Not the average car buyer.

I know Datsun at least had the colour Nulabour brown on 120y's. It was fugly by the way!!

One would have thought that if names of colours made any difference then (given the demographic) the XU1 Torana should have sold masses in "Nipple Pink" - but it didn't to the point where it is one of the rarest colours of all.
