I have a bone to pick with you mate. if you are a true Gossy fan then you would have done the font in a blue or green colour scheme to resemble the lower part of the Gossy! By doing it in orange it proves that you are actually a closet XA Superbird fan : GCG |

Thanks COB115, My sentiments exactly!!!!!!!! George, not GCG,but geevee, You can always get your panel beater to make your stonetray up. I had a single outlet and got it turned into a dual GT outlet. I think it looked even better because the stonetray was shaped exactly the same shape as the exhausts where as the GT outlets taper out a bit. This was 20 years ago but I think it cost me about $50. Something to think about. Don't forget............................................ .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .......... PLENTY OF PEOPLE ARE INTERESTED IN YOUR PROJECT : : : : : : : : : : : : : : |

My nephew has a Gossy but i don't think it will be in any condition worth restoring by the time he gets around to it - same old story, he has genuine intentions but you have to wonder if it will ever be completed. (or started for that matter) Anyway, keep plodding along with your project and keep the photos coming.

A guy on Aussie Coupes has just finished restoring a Goss - but his is blue and white? Sorry, not up with all the details on Goss specials much... Anyway he might be able to give some guidance on the stripes/painting if you are interested? Send me a pm if you think he might be able to help you out...
And definitely keep the pics coming...!!! cheers Lisa

Time for an update.
The rust has all been cut out. There really was not very much rust at all which makes it mush easier, quicker and cheaper to restore. These are pics of everything that was cut out: These pics show where the new metal was welded. The back of all bolt on panels will be treated with rust preventative as per the last pic below: This pic shows how generally rust free she was. Pic of area behind passenger side front guard. usually a notorious rust spot for coupes. I'm quite happy with the work they did on the rear parcel shelf. The body is now all in primer. Next we move to the interior, door jambs etc. I get all my chrome and stainless moulds back from the polisher this week. We need to make sure the wheel arch moulds still fit the wheel arches before hitting it with any paint. Echuca beckons! |

Too right, looking good George. If you get it done perhaps you could have a trusted mate bring the Sandstone XB to Echuca?? Be a shame to leave that gem at home!!
Cheers.

I agree with Bearman! If the gossy isnt finished it would be great to see the sandstone beige one at Echuca. You were very lucky with the little amount of rust. Looking good.

The body work is all done and the paint applied over the past week. The panel beater has done a great job. You can see the excellent job he did straightening the panels in these pics although it's hard to see the quality of the paint job as it is a little dusty from the other car being worked on in the same garage.
It now just needs a rub back and buff. Roof trim goes in this week as do rear and front windscreens, lights, grills etc. She should be ready for the rest of the trim to go in the week after and then I'll take a good look over the engine bay and tidy it up a bit more (painting rocker covers, air cleaner). The dash and console also have to go in. Before I get to that stage I have to convert my auto console to manual. I only took two pics as the car was in a confined space when I took my camera. This pic shows I still have the snazzy wheels on to move the old girl around. You can see in this pic I have now fitted a passenger side mirror (Thanks to Luke GT from this forum). Getting the old girl in and out of the garage I will keep her in is not easy and a passenger mirror will hopefully save me from having to make return visits to the painter! |
