A trade teacher of my acquaintance was doing a cert 4 in training and assessment.
His trainer asked him how he would deal with disruptive behaviour in the classroom.
His reply was that in that situation he would ask the miscreant a question about the subject being studied, and thereby put him on the spot.
Trainer's reply - "Oh no no no ! You can't do that !"
"Why not ?"
"That's bullying - you can't ask a question without having given notice of the intention to ask a question".
And this is how he's supposed to handle teenage boys ? Threaten them with a damp tissue ?

I was heartened in recent years by the move towards 'initiation' ceremonies for boys that are conducted by men. But the guys who do this stuff seem to be rather wimpy ......
Still, its a start I suppose.

*tip for bullys* ..smash the crap out of their younger sister or brother..... bully bashes you again... so.. smash the crap out of their younger sister or brother again.... pretty soon the bully gets sick of their little bro or sister getting smashed up and YOU will be left alone....

The little bro or sis might be innocent of the poor behaviour.

What I meant by that is that maybe the probably-innocent kid you bash takes it out on some other kid. Doesn't seem wise to me.

Still, it is nearly 10 on a Friday night in SA .......
