I subscribe to Wheels - Chrissy pres from Mother in Law. Want to win a car one day and she refuses to buy me porn.

I actually like the mag but I know what you mean.
I think it's called information overload. Too much of a good thing get's you either blind or bored.

Rationing builds the desire and whets the appetite. If you had sex a couple of times a day you'd tire of it pretty quickly. Collapse in a spent exhilarated happy heap anyway.
No chance of me trying this experiment anytime soon - I'm married so on rations - meagre rations.

Like 39 others im over them, pointless reading information that was available on the Net 2 months ago. Information gets old....quickly

Even stopped reading Street Machine as they are cars I will only ever see at a show, none of them are dailys anymore, this is why I prefer Street Fords. Sure they still have the odd show car but more chance seeing one of them on the street.

I used to have a subscription to Motor Magazine, had it for about 5 years but stopped a couple of years ago when David Morley wrote in his column that bike riders should have right of way and should be allowed to drive through traffic at traffic lights. Even though it is illegal he felt it was much safer for bike riders to do this, he went on to say that some guy once didn't give him room when doing this so he scratched the guys revision mirror on his XF Falcon. So he basically promoted something that was illegal, when readers wrote their dissapproval at this, instead of just letting it go, he hit back at the readers. The little respect I had for David Morley was completely lost and I have never brought another Motor Magazine again. I always thought they were a bunch of guys trying to be cool and funny but enjoyed reading the articles on the train in the morning.

I kept every issue, and on a recent move I just skimmed through my collection, I couldn't believe the amount of copies with a Holden on the front cover or cover stories of Holdens.

Was collecting them for a year while i was back at school... Now they are all gone...
As others have said it is as though they go digging on the net for info and then reproduce months down the track

Im sticking to AMC, Street machine, PFM and street fords..

I have giggled for a long time ppl here putting post's up about this comparo that comparo from the 2 publications in question.
I stopped buying them 10+yrs ago, they were biased and full of gmh crap then,shows they still haven't found the sorbent to wipe their ****'s still !

yep im sick of em as well, i found that most of the stuff written are mainly guesses and you could see the bias on the reviews/comparisons on the major stories.

I like the Motor PCOTY articles at Winton so that I can compare my (R-spec) lap times with a pro on street rubber, the Aussie section with data traces was very interesting as I could see where I was gaining and losing times compared to the 6/8 bangers.

AMC is my fave Aussie mag. But I wonder how long they can keep up that standard of journalism for, how many credible stories on the old timers can they get? A lot of the old timers who were there are dying off (Marsden, Brock, Barry Sharp, etc) how much longer can Brabham, Firth, French (Bartlett, Johnson) hang on? While I love the stuff that they do it’s not as if there is an inexhaustible supply of yarns or new P3’s coming out. Will they do a feature on everyone of Bowden’s cars (hope so)?

Out of all the magazines out there the British one “Evo” really appeals to me – I don’t think that Aus/NZ have the depth of manufacturers/sales/journo’s to support a local equivalent.

I used to buy MOTOR all the time, but the writing style just peeves me off now - it is just written for bogans with an IQ of 20. All the crap similes and metaphors they use like "the 6 speed trannie is like syrup running down your bumcrack" - er WTF, does that mean, who writes this crap???

You can learn heaps more on sites like this IMO.

I read them occasionally to get my fix of how bad the GT is...........LOL

Makes me feel like a BAD BOY rebel for buying the GT considering these Motoring Journalistic GODS despise it so much.

I just love going against the grain............. :evil3:

Makes me feel even better knowing that I can extract so much more performance and better times from my BOG stock set up than they ever could despite their expertise and infinite know how and experience................WHAT A CROCK !!!!!

CRUZIN and Australian Street Rodding are the only mags i buy. Occasionaly i will get Street Machine. Havent bought Wheels or MOTOR mags since about 1989.

Having every issue of both (and many other car mags ) since 1970 I'm sort of addicted although I think the quality of both has deteriorated considerabley (now all glossy photos and few stories with substance). US Road and Track as a general auto mag is better in my view an Car Craft and Hot Rod (US versions) more interesting.

.......as it's an engine-out job just to fit extractors, it's not easy or cheap matter to screw more out of the 5.4.The long-stroke design also means that swapping to bigger cams and revving it harder isn't really an option.

Aside from a piggy-back computer that will really only maximise what you've already got, the most viable way to go harder in an XR8 is forced induction. Even then a turbo just won't fit. That leaves you with a belt-driven supercharger, but it's not going to be a cheap one by the time you've got it sorted.

Tuning, it seems, is just one more field of endeavour where the turbo six has got big bro kicked to bits.

I used to buy Motor, Wheels and Street Machine - alot of my reading was done in bed before I went to sleep which used to take an hour or so, but when I took on another job, I'm usually looking forward to going to sleep and the time I have to read the newspaper, magazines and the 'net has reduced markedly. So I've cut out all the car mags as I wasn't getting around to reading them.

I buy wheels and motor occasionsly because they have some interesting articles and comparisons in them, the latest wheels mag with the article on old school muscle was an interesting read.
They also have good articles on european cars which i find interesting.
I would never buy either religously because i prefer mags with modded cars in them.
Australian muscle car is also a very good mag,mainly articles on old school ford,holdens etc.

x2 In the eyes of the Motor journalist the best car is simply the fastest one from 0-100km/h. Don't worry about practicality, build quality, resale, image, price etc - its fast so its good.

I also subscribe to street machine. It has gone downhill the past few years but i still like seeing what people come up with and the techniques they use to create something unique.

Ditto BD, although im not a old as you : i stopped buying them (wheels/motor) awhile back to i have a stack in a cupboard at my old mans place, now i buy ST fords sometimes PFM and St Machines toughest fords but even the St machine ford mag is recycled St fords stuff, i think im gonna have a look at this austrlalian muscle car mag me thinks

i buy these magazines only because i want to see some ford pictures LOL , i dont care about the other cars,ill check out the latest news and look for any Fords,thats all.

It is important you understand the actual physical structure of Wheels and MOTOR magazines.
They both use an interesting binocular printing technique that puts the holden and ford information is such a way that it requires two eyes to read and comprehend.

This is why one eyed zealots in either camp never actually see anything positive and only find negative articles.

The are 3 types of readers.

1) Those who see the glass half full.
2) Those who see the glass half empty.
3) Those who KNOW the glass was sabotaged and the drinker tipped some on the contents on the floor because he was bribed, but wait until the new glass is released next year as it will be full while it is empty and the inside outside, top in the bottom and polyunsaturated, biodegradable, ozone friendly, beats as it sweeps as it cleans, whale saving, world peace making......rant rant rant......

Motor seem to be getting the real world performance car thing in the last few months - mostly because the performance cars are becoming more practical and fun to own. Still ****ed at the Territory Turbo being described as "raucous and thirsty". Compared to what a 300C SRT8, Cayenne Turbo, Forrester XT. Yeah she uses some juice but raucous I don't get.
Maybe they'll test one one day.
