I voted for the Mondeo - cheaper, and more features. Rain sensing wipers, front parking sensors, dual zone climate control and voice control are the features that make me lean more towards the Mondeo than the Falcon. Along with, of course, the versatility of the hatch and the h-u-g-e luggage compartment, even with the rear seats up.
I've driven the Falcon Ecoboost and I love it. I doubt very much that I'll be buying another six cylinder when Ecoboost is available. I haven't, however, tried the Mondeo Ecoboost. If it drives anywhere near as well as the Falcon Ecoboost, then it definitely is a winner. The Falcon isn't a bad car - I love the way it drives. But for me, it just lacks some crucial (for 2012) features which are found in the Mondeo.

According to the ford website you get a push bike wheel for a spare in the Mondeo. May not mean much to metropolitan buyers, but it apparently does amongst people I work with and socialise with, in the regional areas. But these sort of things will eventually grow out as evolution takes over! The Mondeo is at this price for a limited time with all these features, FOR WHAT REASON ? |

The spare in my XR8 is a space saver too.
But us kiwis are pretty used to them, most jap imports back home use them, and there's more imports on the road than anything else. The cynical side of me wonders why ford is discounting the eb falcons competition in the same showroom.... |

Meaning why price the Zetec EB Hatch Mondeo cheaper than the SVP EB Falcon? Must be Ford's marketing people doing their very best again;) |

Mondeo Zetec. Better ergonmics in the Mondeo, almost dislocate my left knee getting into the FG series, steering wheel is just toooooo low
Yes, I did put my money where my mouth is, I bought a Mondeo Zetec Ecoboost, six months in and 12,000klms down very, very happy with the decision. |

dual zone, i don`t need it voice control MEH ! rain sensing wipers i can turn the intermittent on myself premium sound i`m happy with the standard ford radio front parking sensors never needed them extra luggage space handy but falcon has plenty for me+family drivers knee airbag if the the dash is crushed onto my legs i wont be worrying about a knee air bag perimeter alarm probably a good thing, have got by for 33 years without one, don't need it. |

Difficult decision as I like the FG as well as the Mondeo. (driven examples of both plenty of times too)
In the end I would probably go with the Mondeo, I like the extra gadgets and refinement over the Falcon. I would try to stretch and get a Titanium over the Zetec though. In saying that though, the Ecoboost Falcon isn't a bad thing either, drives fantastically. |

Falcon without a doubt.
In my opinion, Mondeo is an ugly, awkward looking car with a horrid interior, and being front wheel drive rules it out from the beginning. I would also prefer to support Australian jobs rather than those in some foreign country. |

They are both decent cars, Im biased towards the Falc but I havent driven either ecoboost model so hard to judge.
But I have driven a same year Mondeo as my fgxr(09), sink the boot in the fg kills it so easily in go and handling. The Mondeo seemed nicer inside and was easier to get in and out of... but cant tow a heavy trailer so no good to me. We can only hope Ford keeps a RWD platform sedan or hatch as not all people need or can afford large utes or 4WDs if we want to tow a caravan/boat or car trailer! |

I just don`t understand anymore . All these people going on about gadgets in a car, Now don`t get me wrong I am a gadget man I love them but for F*&^%$ sake.
A gadget does not make the car Maybe Ford need to offer more options in the Falcon but the only thing the Mondeo has is that it`s imported and $2500 cheaper other than that there isn`t even anything special gadget wise.

If it has the features I want, drives like a car and is well priced initially as well as operationally I will select that car. Unfortunately Falcon is one I will bypass.

I'm a big fan of having any and every gadget available in the car, whether or not I actually need them. And in this day and age, there's no excuse for not including gadgets that other comparable cars have. I might not necessarily need them as such (I don't even have a smart phone so Bluetooth and voice control is useless to me), but they're nonetheless nice to have. Not having dual zone climate control in the G6 when the BA/BF Fairmont has it is ... well, silly, in my view. It's all well and good to have a car that drives beautifully, but I want more than that. If the car is all I want, then I would've bought a plain jane XT and not the Fairmont.

Falcon for sure. I've spent some time driving in a EcoBoost G6E and it was a fantastic car. Mondeo Titainum desiel would make a slightly harder choice to make.

Mondeo is nearly as big as the Falcon inside, it's built by Ford (never mind where) and it's built just as well if not better, and has a bigger boot to ... boot.

well im supprised, maybe i shouldnt be?this is a ford australia ford forum and whats the most iconic car ever made by ford australia, its the ford falcon.now with eveyone wondering why the falocn sales are going south and all are wondering why the falcon is cast off into the history books i dont need a uni degree to work it out.nearly 50% of people here would buy the mondeo over the falcon 4cyl,when you all work out what happened just come back to this thread and look at where you vote is then you will understand why you cant buy a falcon anymore.
if diehard ford fans wont buy a falcon thats it how do you expect the rest of the comunity to buy one,rip ford falcon the car ford lovers dont want. |

It seems that as technology advances, and more and more features are added to affordable cars, the Falcon just hasn't kept up in that regard. It used to be that buying a Fairmont or Fairmont Ghia meant excellent value for money and getting features which wouldn't be available on similar or cheaper cars. Now, however, even the top of the range G6E lacks certain features that the Focus and Mondeo have included, and I'm scratching my head wondering why Ford Australia haven't (a) put them in the Falcon, and (b) advertised it.

Mondeo. I don't need the size of a Falcon. I honestly have no need for a large car.
The back seats are pretty much brand new as if the plastic came off in the car I have now. I would go Ecoboost over I6 though if I were buying a new Falcon. |

Generally I buy Ford, given I've bought two new Fords in the last 3 years and a second hand one. 4 out of the 5 cars in my driveway are Ford, one is a BJII-J48 Mazda 323. The new ones weren't Falcons though, I came close before I bought the Focus, was interested in a 6sp manual base model FG ute with a tub, but the dealer wouldn't budge on $32,000. Drive both at work.
Was excited when we were getting the diesel Mondeo. But after some time in both, i prefer the Falcon, just seems more comfortable, smooth and relaxing to drive and to be in over longer periods. The Mondeo has great build quaility and lots of bells and whistles, but i just feel more suited in the Falcon. |
