could it be the material thats being painted on? i.e plastic vs metal, i remember seeing a Porsche 2 years back at the motor show and it had terrible paint matching but i figure its because of the plastic vs metal.

More often than not, the bars are painted elsewhere, or in other sections of manufacture than the body. They say it's because of the material difference. Bah humbug. My car just got painted all round. And there is no difference between bar and car.

It's coz in VE's, the plastics are painted in a different place compared to the bodies. And at some point they were getting painted using two totally different techniques.

Regardless of the reason there is no excuse for that kind of shocking quality. Wasn't a problem in the 90's.

Use of water based paint has been blamed aswell.. but still if a panel shop can match it without blending in panels surely the manufacturer can.

What are you guys talking about when it comes to colour matching. Looks the same to me. Glad I don't have the eye to pick that.

no way..:S

its a common occurance that plastic bars dont have a perfect colour match to the metal panels next to them seems to rare its ugly head on silver cars more than anything.........been happening on silver fords for years

it is a great step forward in many areas, just the body looks like a bubbly boxy astra on roids.

Good photos ... the main problem with the front gaurds is that Holden went crazy with them and made them way too big.

The is level if you look at the height under the sills ... it's just the wacky massive front gaurds that are off-putting.

I reckon lowering it more at the front would make it look even worse.

The colour matches up on this car its just the lighting, plus the stance looks perfect, the photos dont show off the real stance of the car sorry tristan, but you will agree with me that the car needs to be seen to be appreciated.

I didn't realise that lighting will cause a colour difference that follows the exact rear bar along the line where it mounts to the car... :P

Trust me, it will have poor colour matching.. look at it closely, they all do.. You can even see it in white ones!

The car was lowered about 1 hour(worth of driving) before these shots were taken so there was no time to let the new springs sag/settle.. not to mention the shots were taken very low to the ground which can exaggerate the affect and stance of the car.. the front of the car now sits on tyre and just over at the rear..(with a level side skirt) so its all in proportion.. once again things do look alot different in real life.

The build Quality is better than the same year model fords build quality.. people are very quick to mock a car taken in very odd lighting. colour difference between metal and plastic on the car is slight(in real life) but there are many cars from different companys cheaper and more expensive that are the same.. plastic and metal are 2 very different meterials.

I personally wouldnt of posted these pictures on this website as it seems alot of people here are very close minded.. But to the people who can appreciate the car thank you.

Your car looks good mate, don't get me wrong, but all VE's have bad colour matching. Its a fact of life. I know that every BA/F I've looked at doesn't suffer the same issues as far as that is concerned. Yes plastic and metal are two different materials, but to have the colour match it shouldn't matter. Paint is paint is paint, but unfortunately in VE they painted the bars in one place and painted the body in another with two different techniques with paint from different batches so it is near on impossible to get a match with how they do it. Just a fact of life until they change it.

Lighting has nothing to do with the colour mis-match, its all down to the process GMH employs..
