Default price petrol

I filed one car yesterday Bris Rocklea $1.30 for pup. Today filled another car same servo $1.42 for pup. Must be profits for servos. A lot of private schools are breaking so price goes up for mum and dads taxi service. Have to wait till next year for prices to come down.

I saw this morning Mobil Aspley 120.9 for ULP, 500 metres up the road, BP Aspley 137.9. Yesterday, they were both the same. Lucky for me, i filled up both cars last night.

Its rarely the sevo itself. They compete in a very thick market, so it defeats the purpose if they are clearly much dearer than the guy 4 km down the road. The post above is a prime example of what Im saying. Its likely the dearer servo is reacting to its delivery prices, not simply the market, tomorrow the Mobil and BP mentioned above will both be around that $1.37. Obviously there would be exceptions to this, but its generally the suppliers and refineries that dictate the price increases.

The cheapest I saw this morning was one servo in Ipswich at $1.32 for ethanol blend 95. The next cheapest was $1.35 for regular ron91

That one got me too. I filled the ute with LPG @ BP in GoldenSquare and noticed ULP was $1.25. When I was out at Epsom later in the morning I noticed the cheap-assed Apco (or whatever it's called) had ULP @ $1.46 .. ouch! Should have filled the SV8 instead of the ute .. :(

who cares!! i need it to run my car so i just fill up and hand over my card when i'm done. bp ultimate is the only stuff my car drinks as well.

20c/l is on average an extra $10 - $15 per tank which isn't worth crying over if you ask me.

also regarding the price of qld petrol - not sure if it will change now with new govt but didn't it used to be cheaper than the rest of the country due to it being under state and not federal control (or vice versa)?? coming more into line with the rest of the country now.

Its not beserk is the stock market.

Most Australians where too busy watching the Australian dollaw surge to record highs over the last two months but totally missed the price of oil quietly moving back into the $100 a barrel territory.

While the dollar is strong it buffers the price of oil, usually making it cheaper for us to buy, but because it went up as well the price remained the sameish at the pump. Now the dollar is retreating cause the expensive oil to be revealed.

No suprise really, but most people wouldn't know.

I shouldn't bother watching it since I dont pay for fuel for any of my cars, the company does :

That is an extra $780 a year. Alot of families are already struggling with all the interest rate rises (with more to come). Just because you can afford it, doesnt mean everyone else can.

think it is somewhere around 145.9 for regular unleaded here.. Has been around the $1.40 mark for months. Cheapest fuel i have seen latley was $115.9 but that was during the school holidays near port macquarie. Fuel here in Merriwa is always a rip off and not the best of quality. The motorbikes are always getting fuel blockages from the fuel here. Go anywhere else and its fine.

Your not alone on this point. We have been at $1.44.9 for months, thats only normal unleaded as we cant get anything else here. Lucky for us hubby has just taken on a job that includes fuel but thats only unleaded (good for the cruiser and the laser)...... I have to travel 160k round trip just to get a premium fuel for the Sprint.

I gave up looking at the prices ........ its way to scary :P

notice i said $10 - $15 every tank not every week. for some this may be the same but for many it would be less than that per week.

of course it sounds a lot worse when you put it as a yearly figure (closer to $500 i think). my ba gets filled about every 3 weeks and my ebv8 about every 12 days. the cost of fuel doesn't bother me but thats not to say i don't notice the money being spent.

how many people whinge and moan about the cost of petrol and yet still find enough money for who knows how many packs of smokes per week, not to mention alcohol to drink.

its all relative. i like cars and i like driving so i budget accordingly.

i noticed in sydney last week it just went up like a joke overnight.with a 30 billion plus surplus and the gst making it bigger and bigger and bigger you would think they could relieve the motorist by reducing the ridiculous amount of tax paid on a litre of fuel.as far as i knew we were paying about 33c a litre in tax and that was when petrol was a dollar a litre.now how much do we pay per litre and its not like it takes 20 litres to fill my p6.closer to 80.now lets see of my hard earned dollar i would have to earn $160 dollars which after tax in the low bracket for an example would leave me with about $120 which is what it will cost to fill my car at 1.50 in the holidays shorthy(1.40 now).of that $120 the government will take at least another 33% being $40 for tax on petrol.of my original $160 earned the government has taken at least 50% in tax and more if your in a higher tax bracket.so as you see it actually cost me $160 for a tank of fuel and we are all being ripped off to the eyeballs on petrol.

on another note why the ph&% do they up the amount on lpg when a barrel of oil goes up.as far as i know we suck lpg out of the ground here and have plenty of it.not so long ago lpg was about 28 29c a litre.now someone post 72c or something a litre .some one mentioned that lpg produced almost zero emmisions as opposed to petrol recently in another post i read.i am no greenie but heres something for them to whinge about to.lpg should not be jumping at the rate of petrol.there is no reason for it except for the fact that if it stayed where it should then everyone would switch to lpg as it would be much much cheaper and much much better for the environment if everybody did,but the government would not be able to suck the amount of tax out of us that they do on the petrol so they keep upping the price on lpg to stop everyone saving money and the environment.go figure that one out and who says there not ripping us of no end. :

It's usually about $1.40 to $1.50 up here...And that's for regular.

But premium is going for about $1.50 to $1.60

Crazy.

Some Bum on the street must have stubbed his Toe, cause these day's that's all that is needed to make Oil jump up $3 a barrel. ****ing Gorge Bush just has to get up in the morning and the market panics.

Didn't it hit $100 a barrel briefly the other week and nothing new was even going on, Nitroglycerin is more stable than world oil prices for **** sake LOL

most fuel companies discount the fuel during the 1st half of the week then back to normal on the w/end. they are quite open about it and tell motorists to try to fill up on a tuesday.

Yeah, its a good line they claim, but I doubt its true. In order to overcome the discount in the early part of the week, theyd need to over inflate price to make up the shortfall of the discounting, so there is a premium for filling up on what appears to be the most common paydays (Wed - Fri). If it was a half yearly sale things would be different, but this is every week. Most people fill during the week for work (Mon Tues etc), then again for the weekend, I know I have to anyway.

I get the supposed logic behind it, but it ignores a hell of a lot for it to ring true. Encouraging people to buy early in the week? Why bother, the end result is the same. Why would every servo do it, wouldnt someone take advantage of the opportunity they leave by being dearer in the last half of the week? That is the way a market works.

Something isnt right, thats for sure. They werent open about it, they are now, and its merely the story they use since the issue has been brought up. Yeah Im a skeptic, when theres money involved, it doesnt make sense not to be.

in outback QLD (longreach) Unleaded is around 1.44,
95 octane is 1.51

as a Victorian i find the price of LPG in QLD unacceptable. there is no economic gain in having LPG up here... price hovers around 85 - 90 cents for LPG...
