yes but g&d do a tune after airbox is installed.

i would imagine your right that the falcon "learning" computer would simply over time make its own adjustments anyway.

just remember guys more air doesnt always mean power unless the a/f ratio is right.

depending whats done to the car (cam, extractors etc) just a bigeer snorkle, xr6 or the like, would be PLENTY.

its more about throttle responsiveness and not power. I see a few posts on these forums, no-one is claiming heaps of power yet well doccumented about responsiveness though

Doing his mod myself on Saturday - dont believe you will go backwards with this

If it was about power I would have painted it red, sprinkled it with silver sparkle
and sold it on ebay for $200 ;)

Honestly, it's just a simple little thing which can be done in an hour that may make a small difference. No more, no less.

well just putting it out there. with my current tune (155rwkw), if i take my airbox out i lose about 8 rwkw from memory. and a bit or tourqe. not because im getting less air, or warmer air. my a/f ratio leans out. so any extra holes in my airbox for example isnt going to help me. if i had the car TUNED without the airbox then i would probably pick up some power. but as i dont drive the car daily without the airbox i had no need to tune it like that.

For such a little cost, what is wrong with doing it? No real point in kicking up a fuss about it is there? I doubt people will want a tune once this $10 mod is done, and as it seems, doesn't get done to boost rwkw, more so responsiveness of the car..?

Yeah, fair enough, mate. I'm not defensive about the mod, so your experience is worth hearing about.

I really don't know if it will make any difference at all (other than more responsive throttle) but if it is obviously detrimental I'll patch the hole.

It was a bit of fun to do, cost nothing but a few dollars and a little time.

All in all I'm happy so far

being that standard falcons run rich, u might pick of power by it leaning out your mixture to be honest. who knows.

Doing this Mod on Sunday - will also take pics

However, instead of using a 90 - 100 mm adapter, just gonna use a 90mm with flared end - as I have lots at home

Why would ford have made the F6 snorkel in the first place if it's not worth it.
I modded my old airbox to fit an F6 snorkel and it worked a real treat, in sound, power and fuel economy.
So what would be the harm in this, simple and cheap mod.
i say if you havnt done something like this. look at the cost and time invovled, id say do drive around for a week. if you dont like it cap it and forget about it, whats an hr and $15? and Mr 4.0 when did anyone mention removing there airbox in this thread- except you? lol
Dont think the thread was "removing airbox looses power" or tuning without an airbox for that matter. And the only way that you wouldnt be sucking in hot air would be having a pod inside the side wall of the engine bay somewhere, or mounted in the front bar.
Was about someone sharing a good idea it:

If u could make it come out the side and up the window like a normal 4x4 snorkal would work well if u do lots of dirt road travelling!

Finished the mod today - as per the directions. I also fitted a k&n high flow Panel filter but I put it in after a road test with the mod only

Most definately has better response - definately. And more when the filter went in

Im happy

Glad you've got a result

I found the throttle response very obvious as well.

I'm thinking about a panel filter before our next trip away. You've sold me.

You can be the test pilot for fuel consumption, if you like?

I don't travel enough kms in an average week and in any event I've got the front bar and headlights off for a headlight mod...

Be interesting to have your appraisal of fuel figures.

I went to buy the stuff to do this mod on the weekend and Bunnings only had a 50mm PVC adapter and no mesh caps that I could see. :( Will look elsewhere.

Interesting read, shows some benefit running a second 50mm pipe down into the cold air feed under the gaurd. It wouldn't be that hard to run that sort of pipe down under the radiator then up into the gaurd area for cold air feed. No need to drill a hole in the panel.

Well for one it defiantly changes the whole tone of the car, sounds very cool indeed... even if only for the "my car makes a cool noise" factor it's worth it haha =P

im doing this mod today and with it will be using a K&N pannel filter, i recently went to coober pedy and got 7.5km/100 wich gave me a range of about 786km out of the tank, from the standard setup with a 2.5" exhaust from cat back, im planning another trip very soon and will let you know how its gone with the air intake mod.

no probs i must admit even though this mod looks abit cheesy, its easy to do cost effective and the bloody thing works, mate put it on e-bay, awsome idea for the person who is short of cash and wants a good and yet affective mod.
