Indicators, their lack of or misuse made worse by design/aesthetics of manufactuters insisting on pinning them on any given inch of the nosecone.
Fair dinkum, as a heavy vehicle driver i can tolerate most driving habits and probably posess my own examples but one thing that grinds my gears is people who stifle your momentum at giveway or roundabouts through lack of adequate indication, made worse by the fact that you need to scan every inch of modern cars to find the bloody things which are often hidden by their use of white bulbs in faded, cloudy polycarbonate lenses or Sun glare on many LED etc. Setups. And the way they either look at you with complete ignorance or fail to acknowledge you at all. |

That they do, they indicate left even out of small roundabouts going straight
Doesn't happen in VIC, can understand with the big ones with multiple exits around it if you're going to jump off at one but the ones with four entrances, if you're going straight through the indicate left thing on exit is a bit silly. |

Someone overtakes you then decide to turn shortly after.
Signs up for roadworks etc a multi lane road narrowing and drivers go screaming up the lane(s) that are to be blocked off and push in when there is a bank up of traffic. |

When there are no vehicles behind you and someone turns out of a side-street and crawls to the speed limit, and you have to kick the brakes.
Times like that I wish there was no justice system and I'm driving a Kenworth with a Tiger Tank on the back of it. |

All of the above but especially car morons in front who make left turns from the right of the lane or right turns from the left of the lane.
Do they all think they are manoeuvring a semi. Seriously impedes other traffic for no reason.

People that need three car lengths space in front before they move off at the traffic light thereby leaving half the queue to wait for the next phase.

Not so much cars more traffic......when at very congested intersections pedestrians cross on green light but also still on "no walking" red...........meaning no cars get to turn from the intersection.
Happens all the time down here! |

People who suddenly turn their indicator on when the light goes green on a no-arrow traffic light intersection. :

Seeing - stick family stickers on Mums SUV, IDGAF about your clan and your driving sucks ! and what are you trying to say with that stooopid sticker.
People when lights turn Green take another 5/10secs to get moving ! Asians in general can't drive for peanuts ! have masks on whilst driving and their nodding whatever on the dash. Those who haven't the ability to park centrally in carparks, can't you see when you walk away your parking sucks ! yet you leave it as is. RHlane sheer bloodymindness hogging below the speed limit, you pass them on the inside cut back in and their still ablivious. People stopped at roundabouts waiting forever for the large hole to appear yet could have gone 3/4times, you have NO idea how to drive.

Seems like there's a few on here who to need to refresh their understanding of the road rules.
Taken from the Victorian Road Safety Road Rules 2017: 118 Giving a left change of direction signal when leaving a roundabout (1) If practicable, a driver driving in a roundabout must give a left change of direction signal when leaving the roundabout. Penalty: 3 penalty units. Note Left change of direction signal is defined in the dictionary. (2) The driver must stop giving the change of direction signal as soon as the driver has left the roundabout. Penalty: 3 penalty units. (3) This rule does not apply to a driver if the driver's vehicle is not fitted with direction indicator lights. Note Driver's vehicle is defined in the dictionary. Note for this rule The rules in Part 11 about driving in marked lanes and moving from one marked lane or line of traffic to another marked lane or line of traffic apply to a driver leaving a roundabout—see rules 146 to 148. The local police had a blitz on this a couple of years ago, and my mum, who wasn't aware of the rule, now religiously indicates to leave a roundabout. As do I. Because it's the law. See above.

It's pretty much a waste of time on 'normal' small roundabouts, but with larger ones it would help drivers who are (basically) coming towards you, by letting them know that you're not going to continue on around in front of them.

Backwards I say backwards, only in Melb. Triggered me of another pet hate, Victorians on the road in other States. Can't keep up with the speed limit for they have been in fear of speed cameras in their great revenue police state. Hog right hand lanes not up to speed on fwys for they are ingrained with zero tolerance. Move out of the way !

FTE, on my assumption above, I think you'll find the law is a national one, not just a Victorian requirement. Again, not sure about that but I think that's the case. As Gaso said, it makes sense on a roundabout where the cars waiting to enter the roundabout may not have had the opportunity to see where you entered the roundabout, and is a courtesy way to let them know that they are safe to enter the roundabout because you are exiting. Not so practical on a smaller roundabout, but the law is written in a way to cater for that. And whilst it may seem backward, FTE, the hook turns make perfect sense as a means to enable trams (which run along the centre of the road) to have freedom of movement whilst the lights are green. If you didn't have hook turns, the trams would get nowhere in the CBD. Also, hook turns are only applicable at intersections where the trams run through the centre and don;t have dedicated traffic signals, so it's not like it's everywhere. As someone who has lived in Vic for most of their life, I'd be able to count on one hand the number of times I've had to do a hook turn. It also has the benefit of being a much safer system of controlling turning traffic, too.

People that pull onto the highway from an on ramp, and hit the highway doing half the speed of the cars approaching from behind. Don't they realize how bloody dangerous it is to be doing half the speed of cars coming up behind you?

My pet hate of those merging from an on-ramp is that they do the same (or similar) speed to the traffic, but don't regulate their position to slot in with the traffic already on the high/freeway. Instead, they blindly expect the traffic to just adjust their positioning to allow them to merge.

There's also a reason the onramp is ridiculously long for people with slow cars to get up to speed

Amazes me as to how many of these drivers don't even LOOK to see if they are about to run themselves under a semi-trailer! I watch them all the time, to see f they even glance over at me to see where I am. Of course, I'm ready to take evasive action as they blindly continue on their way.
