Dash, even that Taurus will be gone by 2015, the new car is based on a bigger version of Fusion/Mondeo.
I will be a feather weight in comparison to the Existing D3 based Taurus in the above picture..

I saw nothing in the image but what about "Per4ormance".

4 / all wheel drive or Hi performance 4 cylinder?

So if falcon does indeed share DNA with the 2015 taurus, it should be lighter then? Starting to look like the 2014 Falcon will be more than just a front and rear bumper change, but perhaps a new top hat, engines (demise of the I6?) or maybe as far as bringing taurus/falcon/mustang closer together earlier?

Its 2012, not 2014, so ford are not going to say "Hey, this is the MY14 falcon, it has Voice controll, V6 blah blah" Because ford still need to sell the current falcon.

Holden don't even have anything about the VF...

What ford have done is brilliant...

I agree with all of you. Just looking at that front shot of the light, and front intake, with the abrupt chin below it... I could see lots of right front 2012 Mustang.

I don't want to be a wet blanket. But I was hoping for different looks between Falcon and Mustang. I don't really want it to become just a 4 door Mustang. I think that will detract from it's uniqueness. But if it stays Aussie, and RWD... then I can live with it.. or learn to.

Maybe the Falcon is being Mustangised and the Mustang itself will be imported to join FPV.

It's the same as the Taurus argument. By the time 2014 Falcon is on sale it will be time for next gen Mustang which will abandon the heavy retro theme.

The 2014 Falcon won't look (specifically) like the current mustang, as the mustang its self is under going a make over. However, the large upper grill that the Fusion/mondeo (i.e. Fords global styling) does share some similarities with the current mustang look...

Yeah just had another look at it. It's kind of Fusion-Mustang like. Thought the bulb.. HID, seems to be closer to the grille. Giving it that Mustangness.

Well.. no, not really. J Mays said that they would be departing from the Retro look, but bringing all their current customer base with them. So it's going to be a more modern jump from basing off the Mustang language, incorporating the kinetic 2.0 theme.

Well, if the FH Falcon just gets the nose treatment, then heck, we'll see it out to maybe 2016 - perhaps to 2018 with new plastic inserts in FH2 - but that would be about it. I like the front the FG2 to be honest - it's the rear I don't like.

But if we see a few key items - like the new Mustang IRS in the back of the FH, and the electronics suite from the Parks-itself-Focus (the BA inheritted many electronic modules from the Focus after all - and the Territory is already running a nexteer EPAS, so Falcon could easily get it), then we have a real chance of going beyond 2016/18 as a 4 door Mustang or Lincoln in other markets, or as RH Production Source of those and perhaps the 2-door for European/Asian markets.

Then, if the Falcon gets Focus gear, the SA Territory would easily get them too - and we'd be looking at adding the swish-kick hands-free tailgate out of the Kuga. One can only then hope that there's A/C vents and airbags for the 3rd row seating by then....

Retro is what makes it the Mustang of today. But now it's going to be a lightened, tightend, razor sharp retro departure... got it?

In case people aren't aware the "go further" slogan is Fords new global slogan.

But I think it may actually be referring to the 2014 Falcon 7-8% fuel economy improvement which will mean it will "go further" on one tank of petrol. Maybe?

From what someone was telling me the headlights will be like the current Territorys, but that may have changed.

The supposedly majical kill-off date of 2016 that crapmaker journos and haters keep spruiking is now no longer relevant. This invented pinch-date has moved; the simple fact is, we're looking at an update in the hundreds of millions which would nt have been budgeted for merely 2 years of sales in a shrinking segment, it would be complete and utter financial and business stupidity to do so. What you see, eventually, will surprise...
