The Michelins MPSS that we get , in the normal falcon 19" size are made in France Trev. Otherwise i believe they are made in the USA in other sizes. I don't believe they make them to suit different markets and they are cheaper now because the sizes are more common and the brand more popular. I think they are brilliant on the GT, much much grippier than the Dunlops and much quieter and they give you the assurance to drive harder especially in the wet.
I put a set of PS3s on my Mazda after getting 100kms out of the original Toyos, these are Malaysian manufactured and again have the same attributes although the mpg has definitely dropped with these tyres I would buy them again, no question. Maybe your originals were slightly different but i do believe Michelin only make one MPSS tyre and they are brilliant. Reminds me of an XA Gt I had in the 70s it had Bridgestone RD102 textile radials , absolutely brilliant but i couldn't buy them as they were superceded and nothing ever felt quite the same on that car. Nothing wrong with the Toyo T1's I had them on my xr6T, and they performed better than the previous 2 sets of Yokohama V103's. Was pleasantly surprised
Now on new MPSS on the GT, very happy - astounding grip, only downside is they're a little noisy on coarse chip. |

I've covered 4,000k's on these tyres now and they are a great tyre wet or dry but do not like the cold weather. The weather is one variable that doesn't come into the tyre test and something I hadn't thought of. It's been dropping below zero some mornings and these new RT's lack the grip of the factory RE050's or the Kumho PS91's I had on my XR6T ute. If you live somewhere that regularly falls below 5 degrees I would look elsewhere, I won't be buying them again (unless I move to somewhere warmer). |

Hey Sioso what did you think of the Kumho PS91?
