I might be completly off here but wouldn't you be able to call any number of things an 'accelerator'?

Petrol, throttle body, you? Petrol combusts to push rods which turns shafts that turn wheels that give motive force. Throttle governs acceleration but you could argue it's an accelerator as its fuction directly effects the motive force of the car.

It's been years since chem / physics so please correct my fuzzy logic

The greatest minds on the planet are still arguing about space-time and no one has the faintest idea about why there is gravity although there are some pretty interesting and contradictory theories.

Every single "fact" above can and has be disproved many times.

Gravity is not linear and does not effect all things in the same way.

Time and space are not linear and light travelling from a stationary or moving object travelling through the same medium travels at the same perceived speed not only when viewed from each object but when viewed from the other object.

Why light appears to travel at different speeds through different media is also the source of several interesting and conflicting theories.

It is all very confusing stuff.

Interesting question... I think the answer will vary depending on how the car is operated over a specified period of time. Acceleration is defined as the rate at which an object's velocity changes over time, and expressed with a direction. A car coasting along in a straight line at a steady 100 km/hr has no force of acceleration, and therefore no accelerator, even if the foot pedal accelerator being depressed and the engine is operating. Could the steering wheel be considered an accelerator in some situations as well? Going around a bend in the road, maintaining 100 km/hr, the car is accelerating due to the change in direction (caused by the steering wheel), even though its speed doesn't change.

You're close, the brake is also considered an accelerator too, as it also causes a change in velocity.

It doesn't...that's why it's a spiral instead of just a big spinning disc.

I love the "why are there still apes" evolution question...people assumed that "we evolved from monkeys". No we didn't. We evolved from a common ape-like hominid ancestor. Monkeys, gorillas, chimps, etc, all took one path, humans took another with plenty of dead-end offshoots that ended up with us.

Dogs, cats, all the apes and monkeys, and every animal we see isn't "incomplete" or "unevolved"...they are all the end result of an equally long evolutionary process as our species has been through, they are all equally advanced animals as we are, it's just they turned out like they did, and by a stroke of luck we turned out like we did. There's no rule that said we had to evolve intelligence of our level, it was an accident of evolution.

It does...the cap being on keeps the glue from setting and pretty much in a liquid state. Above the level of the glue is a fine layer of dried glue which can only really develop when a bottle sits for a while after being used.

Oh it will one day. At this stage of it's life, the pressure of the fusion reactions pushing outwards are just about equalled by the gravity of the mass of the star pulling inwards. When it consumes enough hydrogen and converts it into helium, it will start collapsing, working it's way down to iron burning, and that's pretty much it. Our star isn't big enough to "blow up" in a supernova, but it will collapse down and blow off shells of gas as it does after going through a stage of expansion as the reactions inside overcome the gravity of it's mass. It will expand as far as Earth or maybe more as a red giant, then collapse back down to a white dwarf.

Being into woodwork, used from PVA, Epoxy, Resorcinol, Cyanoacrylate, Polyurethane, Urea-formaldehyde and hide glue... never had one stick to its supplied bottle or container!

Because Noahs ark saved all those apes like 100 years ago. Modern humans (homo habilus) have only been around for 50 years. So obviously like you presume, evolution is completely linear.

Homo habilus evolved directly from homo sapiens a hundred years ago. There are no other subspecies under the homo genus.

When a fish is removed from water, their gills close up. When they are in water, the liquid moves around the gills and keeps them open, then as the fish opens it's mouth and draws in water, the water is forced out through the gills and oxygen remains.

I was taught this very different.
The way I knew it was.... The sun WILL blow up in a supernova. Not for many millions, if not billions of years. However, there will be no life left on Earth when it happens. Why? Because as the sun gets older, it expands. It will reach a point where it expands to much, and will wipe out Earth and life due to simple temperature (it will encapsulate [spelling?] everything effectively) before breaking its own bounds and exploding. Leaving no life in existance (for our Galaxy/Solar system anyways)
