It is Eric 'Bana'. Not 'Banner'.
I have no idea who should fill the role.

maybe it will be a Prequel???the fact that George Miller say's mel gibson is too old for the role of max might suggest that the story is based on events leading up to the first one??? i think if its made with action like the first one and a story line that leads up to mad max 1 it might be a winner (plus all the classic cars from late 60's & 70's)

Mel is the right age to play in Fury road, so that's not a reason.
You will find Mel wants to much $$$$ to do it again, unsure what he got for the Lethal weapon movies.

There has been so much talk about Fury road, especially over the last 6 months, even to say that it will be animated!!!!

I will believe it when I see it, until then, I will hope for the best vehicle movie ever!

The book from the original Mad Max illustrates a much more collapsed society than the movie suggested. It would be a good basis for a prequel.

Maybe we should have a Poll. I too think Eric Bana. He even quoted Mad Max as being the reason why he bought his Coupe, and a lack of Car Movies as the reason why he put together 'Love the Beast'.

Eric Bana for Mad Max 4 - Hands down. Actually, sounds like we need more than a poll, we need a petition.....

Come off it Monty.

How could The Stig be Mad Max? Just listen to the music he has playing whilst fanging all manner of cars around the Top Gear track! LOL!

Mad Max, about to run down some post apocalyptic rouge, pauses to change tracks on a best of Vivaldi CD! :

I read when he supposedly mentioned it would be animated. This would not be cool for us older folk.

The Prototype

This is a fictional backstory about the Interceptor and the real car it was created from. I am hoping someone picks it up.

i think it would be cool to focus on what happens after the events of the first movie but before the second. it seems like society degrades a fair bit between one and two so i am guessing that 5 or so years had passed at least.would be great also to see a prequel showing how max became the #1 driver for the mfp(excuse for xa xb sedan porn also) :evil_laug

Agree with MM1.5. But that was back Mel was still young and XB's were still available.

Now it's too late.

yeah the lack of coupes and an aging mel puts a dampener on things. so max o has the advantage, a young max (no name young actor) follows his fathers footsteps into the mfp. we see max go through the academy as the world disintegrates around him.after the tragic death of his father at the hands of a holden driving skag fiend he is assigned to his fathers ex partner(the dark one) and under his guidance he sets about avenging his fathers death in an xb sedan.while investagating leads he meets a young woman and a whirlwind romance(montage ensues) and becomes torn between his new love and righting wrongs on the lonely roads of a slowly moraly disintergrating oz :a rivalry throughout film with a young goose(ala topgun) would also be cool but towards the end when the darkone is injured and has to retire(although max refuses a partner keeping the dark ones name emblazoned on the xb in his honour) max and goose are forced to set aside their difs and unite. either this or an aging mel could rid the lawless roads of jewish bikie gangs while swilling beer.

Another option to play Max could be Sam Worthington from the upcoming Terminator Salvation movie? :

Yeah, thought Russel Crowe would have to be mentioned... Hahaha
I would have thought maybe play Max or Toe Cutter, though Goose is a sidekick with sarcasm, I don't think Crowe has sarcasm in a Goose way.

I think David Argue should be in this number 4. He has great flair in these flicks.
You do need some link to the old movies.

Maybe's ??
Hugo Weaving
Les Hill
Callan Mulvey (he should be the next Night Rider type character)
