My point is the XR8 is manufactured as much at FPV as the GT.

I acknowledged that they have different engine bits.

Any differences in suspension are minimal

I thought the brembos were optional?

Drive one stock for stock? One does 14.2 down the quarter stock and the other do 14.1? Not a big difference in feeling to me.

FYI - Brembos were optional of BAGT - standard 4 pots front on BFGT.....
1/4 MILE ACCELEARTION ISN'T EVERYTHING........standard driving dynamics - roll on acceleartion - the overall feel of the cars is quite different.

Anyways - I'm not gonna drag this thread down a road where it should not go. If you're happy with your choice - that's all that counts. If you wanna whack an FPV badge on a XR8.....more power to you......go for it.

Umm no it is not. The enging is screwed together on the FPV line and that is it. The Car (XR8) never crossed the Hume Hwy. The FPV is fitted up with everything that makes it an FPV on the FPV line. Can you not see the difference?

An XR8 will always be an XR8 and never anything else.
You sell it and you cant advertise it as an FPV, Doesn't matter if you put all genuine FPV parts on it it's still an XR8.

Would you badge an XT as FPV?

Take the XR8 badges off and put "XT" badges on it, much easier to surprise people.

You can not class your XR8 as an FPV.

If you want to badge it as an FPV because you like the look more, go nuts. But please don't tell your mates "it's a heaps legit FPV bro"

4. What does a GT have more? Motor is assmbled like XR8 at FPV (be it different bits), different front and rear bars and a few logos on the seats.

5. Check out the registration papers, it says FPV on them on engine/chasis number!!!
Sweet ill start calling my XR5 an RS they are designed by the same company and 100% built in the same factory with ALOT of the same parts. Might get an RS badge too.

Ok so its not a FPV, happy now..

But lets not make out like a FPV is the bees knees. Maybe from Coyote onwards it has something substantial over the ford offering. But in the B series it was basically just a different dress.

Id rather the Ford badge to be honest, lots more heritage than FPV.

Look at the all the Tickford people spruking the tickford brand. Where is it now? A bit embarrassed?

From coyote onwards the V8 range is entirely badged and sold as FPV. Both the GT and the GS are FPV specific vehicles......just so you know

There is no need to denigrate any vehicle here. They all have their individual character and we luv em for it. The Tickford badge was and still is regarded well for the cars that came from that operation. The 2nd hand car values will attest to that for years to come. Do i detect some sour grapes here.....the wine isnt quite right.....

How does that relate to an XR8 being an FPV discussion. Looks like we have a GPS issue and have gone off track.......

no ones calling FPV the bees knees, they're simply making an fairly obvious point.
an XR8 is not an FPV.
Its a Ford.

if someone wants to put badges on their car that say otherwise, thats their choice.

As for spruking the tickford brand, what about the XR8 brand?
where is it now? A bit embarrassed?

So would it be wrong of me to turn it in to one what i mean is by putting fpv cluster badges ect.on it or will this go bad with some. All opinions welcome. Thanks gazza
The best way to look at this is holistically.

Can you call your XR8 a FPV? Yes you can. You can call it a HSV Clubsport or even a giraffe. Of course most car people will know it is not actually a Clubsport and even kindergarten kids will know it is not really a giraffe.

So do you care what other people think about your car and nomenclature?

If you don't care then stick a bowtie or lion with a helmet, some orange patches and a long blue tongue on it and while you are at it put on a big red nose and a silly hat.

But then if you did not care you would not have asked on here.

Some will state that because a few of the parts were subcontracted to FPV that it is a FPV vehicle. Using that logic an I6 Fairmont with a sunroof would be a FPV vehicle.

Some will actually get rather upset and quote tenuous and extrapolated dogma in a vain attempt to prop up their position. This is usually due to their view of their own vehicle and/or some latent inferiority/superiority complex.

Some have stated that a F6 is not a true FPV because it is not a V8 or the Force was not a FPV because it did not have stripes or the F6X was not a FPV because it was not a sedan. Others may think the above are idiots.

If you choose to class your XR8 as an FPV there will be a small group who agree with you, a larger group who will disagree with you and a REALLY LARGE group who will not care.

My personal opinion is that a FPV vehicle is a member of one of the following families: GS, GT, Pursuit, F6, Force or F6X, has a build number, a starter button and was sold with a compendium and a track day. But that is just me.

Of course reality is subject to your own perceptions. I am sure there are people who insist that the person with the big boobs, deep voice and adams apple they hooked up with in a bar in Thailand or where ever was actually a GIRL because they had most of the correct parts and looked like it.
I wonder if they would care about a XR8 with FPV badges......

So an FPV is a slightly tarted up Falcon, make the half a dozen minor changes and call it what you will.

Ill concede here, a stocky BA-BF XR8 would get pipped in a straight line race by a stock XR6T or Holden SS of the same year. I was a little upset about it.

But the GT owners who paid another $20k on top also got pipped by a XR6T or Holden SS. Imagine that feeling driving the GT thats a proper FPV?

No.......

A slightly tarted up Falcon is an XR6
A slightly tarted up XR6 with a bigger engine is an XR8
A slightly tarted up XR8 is a GT
A slightly tarted up GT is a GTP
A slightly tarted up GTP is a GTE

A slightly tarted up GTP / GTE will be the GTHO

So basically - if you buy a base model second hand Falcon TAXI and slightly TART IT UP half a dozen times as per above........you'll end up with a FPV GTHO.........

And here we are thinking it's all so complex ........Ex Falcon TAXI + Autobarn voucher = GTHO........

its like putting a chev badge on a commonwhore,,, yes people do it and like it but most think those people are dicks...but if its what you want to do, go for it
my XR8 has a FPV engine in it and i even put a FPV starter button in it, but there is no way im calling it a FPV as they are for special people (which i will be joining one day)
but i wouldnt mind doing a GS and putting XR8 badges on it

Short answer is no.

That being said I've got BA Typhoon wheels, a typhoon spoiler, various interior and under bonnet bits from FPV models too. I'm under no illusions of it being an FPV though.
I even went to the trouble of getting Ford centre caps for the wheels because I didn't want to pretend it was something it isn't.

why is it you straight away jump to straight line comparisons?
where were all those threads where you mentioned BBQ's or some crap.
