XtRmn8 what tyres did you end up getting? going back to the dealer tomorrow as they want me to go for a drive with the workshop forman. I am sure they will say its a fact of life so I guess I will be in the market for some new tyres tomorrow.

Larso, I bought a set of XR5 Mondeo 18" wheels with tyres (factory Bridgestone) that have done about 20000kms and have been rotated by previous owner.

Car is so quiet now that I can not believe how we let it go for that long.

Wow, it must have been bad if you think that the OEM 18" Bridgestones are quiet!

Yea it was very bad. The Bridgstones are quiet on smooth roads but can be noisy on rough roads. The 17" used to hum and whine no matter what the road surface was.

What is a good quiet tyre to get?

Dealer wouldn't come to the party as expected as tyres are noisy but roadworthy. Bit of customer satisfaction wouldn't have gone astray considering it my second purchase from that dealer. Would have been happy if they even offered to split the bill.Ended up putting a set of Sumitomo HTRZ III on today, early days but seem really smooth and quiet.
