Moff: "We don't have to fool around with people that are driving around in - whatever - dumptrucks".

Wonder if he was referring to the shift in "car" ownership from sedans to dual-cab utes, etc?

It must never get in the hands of StreetFords or whereever that Roy is or connections.
Make sure someone from the GT clubs or otherwise tips off the owner in the near future.

I got a bad impression from the owner in the man and machine episode on this car. Seemed like he didn't care less about it and only started caring when he seen dollar signs. Been a while since I seen it though, so I could be wrong

I'm thinking I might purchase one of those Barn Find kits off eBay, throw it over one of the cars and make some phone calls.

Cheers Mick

You can get them at Supercheap Autos, on the shelf next to the 4WD SprayOnMud.

The engine will have to be stripped and rebuilt if it has'nt been running all this time.

It's probably seized from never being turned over for soooo long???

It was disapointing that is wasn't at AFD. Would have been a great drawcard, to see the barn find within days of being dug out.

Petrol maybe, I've seen Detroit diesels started after 30 + years standing and usually fire up, then runaway (if the injector rack hasn't been checked first)

Yes i remember setting the fuel injector rack on from memory an V871 Detroit Diesel at trade school.

From memory i did a good job cos it started and idled perfectly.

If you set it all wrong they idle up and down and all over the place on the governer.

Hav'nt touched a D.D since all those days 20 years ago lol!!!

This entire survivor car trend is pox. If it was a 5hitbox 15years ago its still one now.

Agree. That's what my coupe looks like after a month in the shed with the rats and birds digging all the insulation out of the roof

Real finds are exciting, faked up finds are just cynical.

The maths aren't that simple - as is it's worth about $70-80k. Let's say you did spend $100k restoring it, it would still only be worth about $120k. It's just aa XA GT 4-door, not an RPO.
