The add (which has been on TV since Feburary at least) is aimed at bogans...just in the way its spelled out and said. Thier aim is to keep selling to people who simply buy a Holden ute because everyone else does and cause its "sick bro".... What does the add show? What features does it really have? a new badge, some painted rims, and new leather stitching?

Clever marketing yes, clever add? hell no... to me its actually an annoying add, must like all the other Holden adds which go on about HOLDEN IQ system.... lol

ok here is the challenge for those that choose to accept it. Make a better ad get it on utube. A serious ford fg or tez ad . . . The way we all know it should be. It must be of a nature that means it is airable.
The winner is the first to be shown on Australian fta tv (NEWS or footyshow or TODAY or anything)

The prize ... Well all I can offer is a 0.1 yuan note, and a 1974 chrysler by chrysler glove box mirror (If I can find it)

perhaps someone else would like to add some prizes

It's a good catchy ad, I like it. When Ford come up with something half decent I'll compare the two...

The problem with the IC these days, You all expect too much when looking into a car.

The IC Is a Minority to the rest of the world. At the end of the day if they were making ad's to sell to the 40-50 people on here. They (Anyone) would include all the facts and figures as if it was necessary.

The fact of the matter is, the Majority don't care that it talks about a cow, They couldn't care the power to weight ratio.
They couldn't care that the SatNav is a tad slow.

All they care about, is making sure it looks good, it has a bit more features over the standard model, and it'll stand out. Which Holden seem to perfectly sum up in ALL of their ad's.

Holden make the best add's out of the Aussie manufacturers, the thunder ute ad makes me laugh, it is not a serious advertisement, it is taking the **** out of itself, I like it personally.

Spoof ad by MCM?

Fairly sure the people who made that holden ad also made the FPV ad, since the Ute used for filming looks the same.

some of the replies on this thread... talking about "bogans", well ford sells to the same class of people as holden do, and if they want more sales, maybe they too should market their cars to bogans with such ads (as most of the people driving performance holdens and fords are bogans).
the high number of "likes" compared to "dislikes" for the video shows that holden are on to a winner. the ad is pretty good - dont be jealous - instead petition ford to put more effort into their advertising.

as an aside, i find the term 'bogan' has become much like the word 'hoon'. both have long lost their original meaning and people now used them for anything they don't like in the auto world.

if i had on a pair of tight black jeans, a flannelette shirt and a pack of winnie blue's tucked into the sleeve, i'd expect to be called a bogan.

owning a performance falcon or commodore just makes me a falcon or commodore owner.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ng0nt-Q2j3M

all their ads with thunderstruck in them were successful, and this is probably the reason i liked holden better then ford growing up
(before i actually knew the truth =p)

Advertising is not what it used to be, because the market has changed. Both ford and holden now target their marketing towards families with safe, smart cars with good mileage. ("you can get from X to X in a single tank!")

Good to see holden still not forgetting the "bogan" proportion of their market.

And these kids may not have 35k for that new thunder ute, but it creates the image that they WANT a holden ute, so they go buy a ****** VS or something they can actually afford.

I would like to see ford chuck up some 'tough', 'cool' ads like this, appealing to the younger, car enthusiast market. With the effect hopefully something like "wow that falcon GT is tough!!, i wanna get a falcon"

I quite liked the old XR8 advertisement with blokes driving through town...
The fountain is beer, blokes are driving around on recliners etc.

I really loved that advertisement...

Sadly that is no longer true.
Drive a sporty Commodore or a sporty Falcon and you will be branded as a bogan by people who have shifted to the Japs and Euros.

BOTH vehicles now have an "image" problem.

Australian snob levels have increased in the last decade as we become more affluent.

Look how many previous HSV / FPV buyers have moved onto AMG, BMW M cars etc etc.

Thanks goodness most of us aren't that insecure as to care what people who you don't even know think.

If it makes them feel better calling our ilk bogans, all power to them. Meanwhile I'll enjoy my XR8 for what it is - debt free motoring that still brings a smile to face....unlike the Euro-badge my wife takes the kids around in.

And you've got to love, how you people on this forum are bad mouthing Holden owners, yet the Holden is out selling Fords.

Is it bad advertising on Holdens behalf, or is it just Ford doesn't know how to advertise properly.

Come to think of it. I can't say I hear or see to many Ford ads. And we all know, advertising promotes a product, no matter how crap it is.

I can relate to this ad (I even turn the volume down whilst going past the oldies in my street!! ).

PS The new Territory Ad should have been this cool IMO
