Maybe then channel 9 can make a spin off show because of Warne on top gear called "The Legal Department".
Each week they can get a random female from the top gear audience that wants to take action against Warne for his leering, staring or perhaps off screen groping. There'd be tons of material there. The lucky contestant wins an AVO against the bald, fat, middle-aged, follicly challenged has been who's got a bathmat stapled to his head.

They need a comedian or two on the show. It's the Comedy that makes Top Gear good to watch - the test drives or the laps themselves are really only the secondary objective. Although they do try to play on eccentricity.
Are there any Aussie comedians that like cars? Make it funny on it's own terms and it doesn't have to be like the UK version at all. Hiring funny people should be their primary objective. Lukeyson

Banna would be the best pick, could even bring back "Poida". I'll never forget that skit he did with Lowndesy.

Ah well if it goes to Ch9 at least you can down load the whole series of the latest English Top Gear from eztv watch it (ad free) before its released here and not feel bad about ripping of a Quality T.V Station.

After a few weeks will be shown at 11.50 pm on some weeknight as 9 will kill it with advertising. They might even bring back Steve Jacobs a la The Car Show.
I would be happy to start a collection to keep it on SBS. The whole thing is just meh. Its the only thing I watch on TV (try finding a post of mine here when ever an ep was shown...)

I hope Top Gear stays at SBS, at least its one of their most popular shows and is treated as such. At Ch 9 it will be shuffled around later and later at night until they get sick of it and stop showing it. |

Shane warne to host Top Gear?? NOOOO!!! The guy is a complete meathead. Channel 9, please don't do it. What the hell does he know about cars?? Owning a couple of exotics does not equate to a knowledge and understanding of cars.
As others have said, get ERIC BANA!!! Failing that get an ex racer who has the technical nous, is articulate and with a screen presence. My left field choice is Larko!!

Personally, I cannot stand warne, I actually detest the man. He's a grot.
As was suggested earlier, just because he buys expensive metal, suitable car show presenter that does not make. I look forward to seeing just how badly they slap another series together.... There's so many other options out there for presenters, surely??? Or are the motor racer types, Luff types etc now too scared to put their own face to such appalling dialogue and content?

There are so many people that could host the show..
These are my thoughts who would make alright hosts: Ian Luff, Craig Lowndes, Eric Bana, Mark Skaife, Victor Bray, Roothy, Dick Johnson...so many more but you get the drift. Would be some great driving and comedy. Imagine Roothy in a supercar lmao. |
