Any update on this? If BNE airport goes under, Coolangatta will be the only nearby strip available I suppose? If so, it will be a very congested facility!

This is one of those days that you will remember where you were, in the same way as the first shuttle explosion, Lady Di's death etc.

To all those in Queensland, be safe. If water threatens, get out early.

Nope. Neither on Sky or 612 ABC Brisbane.

Can't go onto Facebook without seeing friends freaking out thinking it's doomsday in their status updates. It's annoying.

Where I life it's okay, but I heard that even the small town of Forest Hill has rescue helicopters lifting people away. I'm familiar with that area and that just reminds me how bad it really is. When the flood finally eases off, I'll hopefully head out there to investigate the damage.

subscribing to thread. my folks live in brissie (although not in a 'risk' area). my g'pa has a beef cattle farm in lockyer valley though and is currently isolated. 91yrs old, no one can get in or out. no power etc.

feel a little helpless down south in adelaide. amazing footage coming through. stay safe everyone.

Yep why is the Mayor acting so guarded about everything he says?

4.2m in 74 now predicting 7.5m thurs with fri and king tides still to come... + with the overflow from the dams and Heavy Rain is still forecast for the rest of the week as well ....

I understand not wanting people to panic but seriously guys you are gonna need to be prepared for this one !

The caption on Nine News says this flood will surpass the 1974 floods. If that is true, that would mean my area will be flooded also. Now I know that in 1974 the flood waters did not reach my house and my house is on stumps aswell. I always thought it would happen again, so maybe this could be it?

My advice to anyone living in low lying areas in Brisbane and Ipswich that got affected in 1974 - gather all your precious sentimental belongings now so you won't lose everything! It's better to be safe than sorry.

I think he is worried about causeing panic maybe? I recall a few months back where he warned people about the river breaking its banks and it never happened, so he copped heaps of flak apparently for it???

For all the south east residents, dont stuff around, if your in a low area, move now before its too late, check up on ya mates, make sure your old neighbours who live on their own are ok and get them outta there now.

Please take care and good to see the members on here offering help and place to stay....

Queenslanders take care up there!!!!

I heard there was a landslide in redcliffe.

The Oxley on the river restaurant in Milton is where my cousin had his wedding a few years ago. Its almost hard to fathom that is now gone.

I feel for all of you guys in QLD affected. Stay safe and good luck. I think not long after I joined here we were flooded because of storm, I didn't lose everything but I know what it is like. My family and I wish you all luck. If anyone needs kids clothes toys etc after everything settles down P.M me.

Where is this 7.5m peak going to occur and where did you get the data from?
Useless info without stating these facts.
As you said - don't want people to panic

I am scanning news footage on the net. My kids are still in OZ and not sure where their mother has moved too
so i am some what of a wreck.

It is absolutely surreal here at the moment.

Stinking hot, blue sky, gentle breeze.....just a nice summer day, 3km away roads cut, 20km away major flooding and only 150km away torrential rain and flash flooding.
