Maybe if you didnt have such a serious nazi like approach to the issue of speed camera's you may have noticed a hint of sarcasm in my post.

Beloved little johnie??? I dont think so mate,I cant stand the the bloke nor the party he represents,as for passing laws to suit his agenda?? we have seen that since the liberals have had total control of both houses of parliament he has pretty much done that.

I have come to realise that speed cameras are a bit of a sore spot for you so I enjoy having a dig No harm intended.

Most law enforcement (let alone piddly traffic offences) has nothing to do with John Howard. It's state based. Although I could be wrong and it could all be a conspiracy. As I've mentioned before....

NSW income last year was about 5.5 billion for stamp duty, another 5.5. billion on payroll tax, a billion or so for gambling, (which we volunteer!) and about 200 million for all infringements which includes council parking, unreg cars, etc. If you're prepared to look at the big picture it's not the cash cow ACA and TT tell people it is.

But I understand there's a lot of people who woud learn everything they know about cameras from these morons and would never investigate further to find anything out for themselves. In fact it's so small on the treasury pie chart they use to illustrate income, the 'other' slice of the pie for all minor revenue is just over $600 million. 3 times bigger than infringements!

I know this is an automotive site and of course tickets are a sensitive topic. I don't like getting a ticket any more than the next person. But a guy can only take so much misinformation before something needs to be said.

Sorry Dude. I thought that you were having a back slap at me...... You are right, I despise speed camera's. While people are still out there getting killed every state and territory government is capitalizing on the situation. And we all know that speed camera's have no positive effect on the road toll.

No worries mate,

That's what governments are about unforunately,it's the same story with poker machine's, here in s.a. every poker machine makes around 900 bucks a week, more than the average weekly wage,do governments care????? nope, because they are making a killing out of them.

Its kinda funny, i use to take more notice of my speed but i kept getting caught, now that i just drive to whatever speed everyone else is doing (while in traffic) i notice i dont get caught (touch wood). My last speeding fine was last year, and it was for 65 in a 60 zone. From then on i just decided if they are going to get you, they will, so i just drive to the conditions whether its above or below the limit or with the traffic im in. As i said before (touch wood) but i havent been caught since i took this approach.

I went thru a speed camera once doing 8km/hr UNDER the limit, it took a picture. I was ****ed! I swung round, got out of the car and hammered on the vehicle's window. The officer was actually pretty cool, and showed me how, yes i was doing under the speed limit, and that the camera has to calibrate once an hour and it did it with my car. I pointed out to him that this should be a well known fact, cause not every driver will swing round and challenge them, and the poor buggers who don't wait for the next 3 weeks for a fine they didn't commit!

How can you calibrate when you don't know the true speed of the vehicle your are trying to calibrate against ?
I don't claim to be an expert, but this sounds odd to me !

after recieving my fine in the mail this morning, three weeks to the day from the actuall crime.50 in a 40 zone.in this three weeks my eractic driving behavoir could have killed somebody.should,nt they have informed me earlier.

driving today after recieving my fine i did notice that i now spent more time watching the speedo than the actual road,so a guess that makes me a much safer driver now.

if you want the details see my thread. got done 50 in a 40 zone.

Read what you posted. IN THE THREE WEEKS IT TOOK TO RECIEVE MY FINE, I COULD HAVE KILLED SOMEONE WITH MY ERRATIC DRIVING. If you didnt realise you were driving stupidly before being told about it in the mail then i personally think you need to take a long hard look at yourself and use this as a wake up call. No harshness intended. Its just the way it is.

I can probably hazard a guess on this one. Most test instrumentation has a "separate" crystal oscillator that can be used to calibrate the device. Whether or not this is the case with speed cameras i'm not sure.

If I get caught by a speed camera I just keep going at the same speed. I figure I may as well get my moneys worth.

Of course, I'll remember it is there next time.
