They use low weight oil to meet economy targets.
Then when people report oil consumption they suddenly change the oil weight to what it should have been in the first place.
But of course economy figures remain as they were with the lower weight oil.

i'm on the bandwagon saying it wasn't the oil weight they caused the issues and fuchs are being used as an excuse

most euro cars say run say 5w-30 but in hot weather (australia) use 10w-40 anyway

also my old crappa FG e-gas uses 15w-40 however its the same barra engine in petrol uses 5w-30 oil, so from my expert opinion (not expert at all) the 5w-30 is for economy and to make it last through to the end of warranty where the e-gas needs to be reliable and last a few hundred thousand km's so it needs thicker oil
250,000km in and the 7.5l of oil i put in is still there in 7500km's time running 15w-40 semi syn

I used Mobil 1 5w-50 in my SY Territory without any problems, and its still out there with 320,000 on the clock, the engine still running good as new.

Can't see how a slightly heavier grade of oil can do any harm.

Never has a better candidate for a Barra T conversion existed.

I think the Barra would run on hot ear wax if it had to.
