I can't believe how aptly timed this thread is, I have just picked up my car on monday, full re spray on the frone, bonnet, guards and front bar, cost a fortune, so i have been mulling this 'car bra' option over, i absolutely want one, but i dont think they make them for 1995 fairlanes anymore, any body know where i can get one?, new of course, i dont care how it looks, as long as i dont get chipped, i will still dodge those tip trucks on the m1 with gravel visibly flinging off the back, its astounding how much rubbish gets thrown up, one of my pet hates. so if anyone knows of a 95 fairlane car bra for sale let me know.. thanks.

Nah, done 2 resprays @$1200 a time on the T3 over 3yrs, far better being a dag and wear a bra. Never a hassle to put on or off much like the mrs's ones great investment if your a fuss pot like me and I'm sure many others on here.

Had one on the XR8 before plenty of country road work trips, in ****ing rain plenty of time rounding up semis with the muck they fly up, never a mark on the paint and save heaps of time cleaning the car again without the countless bug splats apart from the side mirrors.

a front end respray should never cost more than your excess

So you lie to get it resprayed, pay the excess, loose your NCB, just so you dont have to wear an ugly bar on long distance driving. Sounds like a plan.

woah, who said anything about lying? if your cars front end is damaged enough to need a respray, its an insurance job. simple as that.

Yeah, I took it the wrong way, my bad. But really, who are people here trying to impress? You wear a car bra to stop stone chips, not to win a prize. Your trying to protect your car for chrissakes, who cares what it looks like. Your inside the car when your driving anyway.

Car bras are a functional item, they protect your car and they do work. They are not there for cosmetic reasons, style is a subjective issue anyway, you don't like the look, fine, a lot of people probably don't like the look of your car whether it has one or not, so what's the difference?

refer to post 45, with the "IH8HSV" number plate, he might not have to worry about stone chips on his front end. He should be more concerned about the coin scratch we will probably get for having number plates like that on his car.I would never have the word "hsv" on my ford, ever...talk about asking for trouble. If I were this bloke I would be looking into a car bra that covers the whole car and especially that number plate :

why is your car not fast enough to back up a plate like that.
If you seen the bloke that owns it I wouldn't touch it and it is either in his garage or he is with it.

Wouldn't be without my Carbra on country trips. Cobra now over a year old and not one stone chip. Takes 5 mins to put on or take off.

Also saves trying to get all the bugs off the front of the vehicle and in all the crevices after the trip

I had a CAR BRA on my AU XR, it became a pain to get off on every time I had to access the engine bay or wash it, you need to get down on your back to release the clips that hold it in place. I did like the look, but I sold it for the above reasons.

yeh mate my car would definately be fast enough not to mention sounds better and louder than all those cars in the photo put together, but like i said i would never have the letters "hsv" on my car no matter what was before it or after it,would you? so your saying he never leaves the car alone or he cant leave the car alone, I would say he cant leave the car alone cause he might be 6,2 100 kilos and no wuss just as I am but if your not there then anything could happen and probably will with number plates like those, I'm sure many on here would feel the same. the letters "HSV" would be an insult to have on my car fullstop, let alone the more than likely crap you will cop when driving no matter how big or tuff you are......

If someone wants "HSV" on his numberplate which is fitted to his FPV good luck to him, it's his car, maybe he wants a reaction, some people enjoy it. Can't see what it has to do with a car bra though.

well the fact is why bother with a car bra to protect your front end from a stone chip when you are more likely to get your whole side coined by wearing those plates, thats what is has to do with a car bra.
