It seems most people's love for Ford came from their old-man.

I didn't have such luck. I'm 23 now and about the most I can remember is always liking the look of EB2s and EDs. My ex's father had an ED Classic and an EF Futura. Pretty boring really, but I remember sitting in the back of the ED thinking what a cool car! (I own one now - my first and only).

When we were looking at replacing dad's Camira (glad I don't have to see that thing any more) I remember being at a Holden dealership and telling my parents to buy a red EF Futura because it had buttons on the steering wheel. I was stooged again and we ended up with a brand new Hyundai Sonata.

On top of all that, Commodores are over-rated!!

What a crack up!

Loved your story Falcon_Crazy. My Ford addiction started from the sweet lines of the 65 Mustang. Even today, 18 years later I still find it the sexiest looking car. I never was a fan of the X series(olds had XE) hence why my first car was a VH, but when I first drove the EF, I was back and had to buy it. Now driving the BF, with that sweet ZF box, it will be a while before I own something other than a Ford

When i was younger, my grandad had an XR GT that he bought brand new and he drove back from cairns in it and the GT was T-boned, right into the front quarter and drivers door... So what does any sane person do? Tape the door closed, and the headlight, and whatever else was hanging off, and continue 1500k's to home...
I would always ask him to tell me that story,
He traded it for an XY fairmont GS, which is in their shed to this day (he died ~5 years ago)
And grandad on the other side has a vermillion fire XP coupe (resprayed in '75) which he drives to work every day, on its original motor and gearbox...
same one had a zephyr, single spinner, ZC, ZD (not sure about these, way before my time) compact 'lane, Galaxie landau, and an XD ESP. which was stripped by his mechanic, and crushed...
Good times, You've got to miss the simpler times...
Cheers, Noel.

Hmm I guess I can blame my old man owning a XW and XB wagon 500. The XB was classic Mulberry with a white roof and a front bench seat, column shift auto 302. That and watching Bathurst in '77 and of course watching Tru-Blu and Greens Tuff.

For me it would be going to school in the olds Fairmont they built up. XD Fairmont Wagon , 351 4 speed , Snow White with gold pin stripe , shaker , sunroof and 12 slotters. Cant forget the nice noisy twin system on it. I went to school in a sleepy blue mountains village that only had 176 kids in total. It was a pretty cool way to be dropped off and picked up , the locals tongues use to wag a lot!

Dad, was the inspiration.

When I was young he had a brown, XC Fairmont GXL with the 351.

That thing had the nicest note, I remember hearing it coming from streets away, you would know when he was coming, thats for sure.

Loved that car, was supposed to get it, but some piece of , stole it and burnt it!!!

Certainly not my old man, he's Holden through and through, apparently I was conceived on his Torana's bench seat to ensure I "grew up right". I used to love the VK Commodore until I was a passenger in an XD Falcon that collided with a VL Commodore. After seeing the massive difference in damage in the two cars, VL was destroyed, fuel tank ended up lodged under the rear passenger's seat, the XD had it's bonnet latch pierce the radiator and put a tiny crack in the bumper. I quickly changed sides and fell in love with the (at the time brand new) EF, so guess what my first car was.

My father and the first Bathurst 1000 race I saw made me become a Ford man.

My father's first two cars were a XP Futura coupe (200ci) and a XA Fairmont coupe (250ci).

I remember as a chilld watching on TV a helicopter shot of two cars with numbers 1 and 2 on them. At the time I didn't know what I was watching but that image was etched in my mind. Years later I realised it was the 1977 Bathurst 1000 with the Moffat hardtops running first and second.

That is where my brand loyalty stems from. Mt passion has increased over the years from the injustice that has been dished out in the Ford versus Holden battle. The amount of crap, lies, favouratism etc which has occurred and continues to occur justifies my unequivocal support of the Australian Falcon. Plus the Holden brand has a significantly higher number of rock apes so I don't want to be associated with these people.

I will continue to drive (RWD) Falcons as long as they continue to build these cars in Australia.
