Why, to make sure there is no choice for the WCE & the AFL to once and for all get rid of the loser. I've never liked the bloke and what he did to that poor Auskick kid when they won the GF still disgusts me.

lol, maybe. Or maybe to advertise him as being out of the picture whilst something else goes down..... or maybe to keep him very close whilst the investigation into Mainwaring's death is wrapped up. Cousin's "mates" could get him out of the country in a heartbeat.

To be honest you may be suprised, I dont think any club wants a convicted (if thats what ends up happening) drug dealer or taker at their club hanging out with their other teammates off the field with the risks and public negativitey it will cause. He could go to any of those clubs you mention and none of them will get even close to winning a flag in the rest of his playing years except maybe Carlton and I suspect Judd may have come home for more than the 2 obvious reasons.

Think hes guilty as sin and the only conspiracy theory I have is that Judd came home to get away from things he didnt like at WCE.

Looking further into that theory it was odd how Cousins suddenly wanted to be tested the day after mainwarings death to show he was "clean" but now suddenly refuses to be tested. Something is a bit off in all of this, time will tell.

Cousins' entire attitude through the last 'incident' was one of "Why is everyone bothering me about this, I'll do whatever the hell I want". He showed no genuine remorse, was clearly only saying and doing the things he needed to do to ensure he could keep playing football. With that kind of attitude, he should have been booted long ago.

GTP006, I actually believe your theory has merit. I think that the police probably are making an example of a high profile "owner operator" who has thought for a long time he is a cut above everyone else. There is clearly a significant culture of drug abuse at the West Coast Eagles (I am not saying there isn't anywhere else, just maybe the WA media is more efficient than anywhere else in the country?). This also needs to be stopped. The manipulation of the media is carried can be carried out by just about anyone in this day and age, so why not the police?

The question needs to be asked though, how did they come into this information? Well, what significant events have occurred recently in WA? What might the police do to investigate that death? Do you think they might apply for some warrants and get some phones 'off' and listen to what the key players have to say about his death? I'm obviously filling in the blanks here, but it'll be very interesting to see exactly HOW and WHY the police have done what they have done today and what information has led them to doing it. For my 2c, I think its fantastic, he deserves all he gets.

Now, pardon my ignorance, but what happened with the Auskick kid?

When WCE won the GF most players completely ignored the poor kids who present them with the medals. Ben Cousins not only ignored the kid but snatched the medal from his/her hand. He wasn't the only one to do this but he was the captain at the time IIRC.

If GTP006 Theory does have any merit. The D's who pinged him are probably sick of being treated as the law breakers by the civil rights brigade. They needed the impartial evidence on thier side to prove he wasn't unfairly treated during the arrest, hence location and timing and the most powerful TV channel in OZ. Maybe even had a TV chopper about just in case he did a runner (imagine being the poor copper running after him ha ha). But on the other hand could just be a case of police scanner, recognised number plate ring it in base reply says its Noddy the wonder junkie and the media jump.

After everything settles , we the footy public will be the losers. Ben Cousins , unfortunately , is one of THE best players this country has seen. The problem is , have these performances been fuelled by illicit substances? No-one knows.
As a talent he will be missed. BUT he should have been A55H0LED the last time. He IS a drug scum! Sack him now. "SUCH IS LIFE"

Well the plot thickens, in the Herald Sun they are reporting he was pulled over by members of the organized crime squad after he was seen diving erratically. When was the last time you can remember ANYONE being pulled over by the organized crime squad for just a mere driving offence, that is anyone who isn't an organized crime figurehead.

I dont think he is a figure head, the problem is he thinks he is one himself.

The Police station where he was taken is less than 100 metres from where his car was searched. I dont know why they took around 3 hours to get him there.

That would be a bit like Osama Bin Laden getting pulled over for a driving offence by the bomb squad........

It appears now he was caught in possession of prescription medication for treating anxiety and withdrawal from alcohol dependence... duh??!! what has he just been through?
If this is true there's going to be allot of red faced cops and journo's in WA. I can't help but feel he's getting targeted for some reason.. maybe unfairly? who knows..

I think 99% of people in this country are retarded. Going by what has been said about cousins on the radio etc.

Some people just need to get out more..

Basically everyone bagging the crap out of him without knowing the full story.. AND if he did have illicit drugs on him, jumping him for it.

It's like they actually expected him to come back clean just because he spent a few weeks in the states. Addictions don't work like that :

If they were presription drugs then he would have had a prescription for them wouldn't he.
If not then he's in possession of drugs, and thats what he was charged with I believe from the News reports. It's not like the Police didn't know what they were doing, I'm sure they've charged someone with drugs before, plus they have roadside test kits to determine what it is.
So the only persons with red faces are the poor gullibles that said give him another go. This is how he repays their confidence and how he thinks of his team and supporters by doing drugs.
Granted he's been under a lot of strain but so do a lot of other people without turning to drugs. :togo:

And.... He's just been sacked!
http://wwos.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=306770

The West Coast Eagles have sacked Ben Cousins on the eve of a court appearance where he will face a charge of possessing a prohibited drug.

The club says it had no alternative than to terminate Cousins's contract because he broke the conditions of his comeback.
West Coast Eagles CEO, Trevor Nisbett, who has known Cousins since he was a boy, says it is the most painful decision the club has had to make since its inception in 1987. Mr Nisbett says it is the right decision and one that he hopes will allow Ben to focus on his health issues.

The club has not been able to make contact with Cousins. The news of his termination was relayed to his father, Bryan by incoming club chairman, Mark Barnaba.
"I made, or attempted to make, contact with Ben. I spoke personally with his father. I spoke to his doctor. I called Ben several times, I didn't make direct contact, I left a message but I'll certainly be looking to spend some time with him in the next day or two," Mr Barnaba said.
