i currently work up in argyle,
from the month of october through to march do you rarely get a day below 40 degrees. and thats in the shade. if i have to go on a breakdown on a truck and get in the enginebay it can be upwards of 60 degrees c. to make matters worse late november comes the wet season so you are working in 40 + and it is ****ing down with rain, not the most comfortable of work environments. i have found on an average day i willdrink up to 10litres of water just to keep hydrated. i hope you have learnt a valuable lesson from your experience, glad to hear you are all good.

I remember working underground doing exploration drilling.
84 hours a week, no ventilation, 100% humidity due to working below the water table. approx 30 - 40 degrees depending on conditions. Those days you could drink 15-20 lites of fluid in a 24 hour period and only once if you were lucky. Empty a few hundred millilitres of sweat out of the work bots at the end of each day. We had a few guys go down with heat stroke. I watched a guy just fall off the back of a truck once. I sent him to get me a 20 litre drum of hydraulic oil of the service rig. He made it up the ladder and then just fell off unconcious.

Lucky you got a warning shot Dave.
I reckon going to a doctor (no, not gtFPV either) might be a good move. you wouldn't want to mistake your warning shot for a simple fainting spell brought on by heat when in fact it could be something more sinister... get it checked.

Your not the first to suffer heat stroke there and wont be the last i suspect.
I dont think it's just the heat that gets you, it's the petrol, oil, etc fumes too. Lonsdale is fairly well ventilated where it is near the water whereas elizabeth is well sheltered with little breeze to clear the fumes especially when it's 40 odd. Not much XP stuff either, 1 car last week and none for ages before that, even XD/E are getting scarce I'm down there nearly everyday. |

remember guys by the time you feel thirsty de-hydration has already stared to affect you. in summer it is recomended a adverage adult drinks 4 litres of water per day....more if you are active and sweating a bit. direct exposure to sunlight doesn't help either.
Thankfully this story has a happy ending.

Good to hear you're Ok Dave ,wouldn't hurt to go to the Drs for a check-up . Yes it is good to have good mates around (true mates) and also good Neighbours .
Once I collapsed in the front yard & the Mrs couldn't see me , the neighbour saw me and was there in 2 seconds flat . Also I've been crook for about 12 months & my son is doing a Motor Mech.Tech Course at High School & had to get his motorbike to the Tech . Last Wed. same neighbour had the bike loaded before 8am & took my son & bike to school before he went to work , without question . Good to have some descent people around .

i'll add a little humour here . seeing it's about the value of good observant friends and family.
when my daughter was 2 we were invited to a pool party at a neighbours house. i jumpd in the pool and took my daughter for a swim . i'm only 5'7 , so the deep end was over my head, my daughter was hanging onto a side step in the deep end and i was sitting next to her, she walked to the side water feature rock which was just sitting there made out of soft vinyl. it fell in and she went straight to the bottom, i immediately followed. there were people all around, my daughter wasnt under water for more than 2 seconds before i ad her in the air. problem was i was under water with my arms up in the air holding my daughter, don't panic i thought, some good neighbour or friend will be observing, and all will be fine . i could hear laughing and loud talking, i dont know what was more frustrating , holding my breath waiting, or walking to the shallow end with my daughter held up out of the water, i was peed at the observant people there that day. it could've easily went the other way SB. lucky phill wasnt in a frenzy ripping out an F100, heater core. |

Lucky you had a mate with you like everyone has said. It doesn't get too hot down here. i think we've only had a few days over 40 this summer, but i still get dizzy and feel sick sometimes out in the field. dehydration is a crappy thing! happens so easily too
