Thanks for your replies
Some are very helpful and some are quite funny. Im surprised how many people have done it, so - like one said - its probably something you should do once. Good point about the radar detectors. I would of just cruised into south Australia not even knowing. I presume the fines are pretty high being caught with one. I know fuel will be the killer but I'm interested in knowing how to work it out. It will be about 7000km round trip. Car averages 10.8 and I'm averaging the fuel at 2.00 a litre. Can anyone please work this out??! - I should of paid more attention in maths class years ago. Thanks again.

all i can say is take you time and enjoy it is a very good run im going over again in march from albury, it is an easy trip these days (penlty of roadhouse) not like the old days where you would take jerry cans full of fuel and water and as many spares as you could carry
make sure you have a beer at cocklebiddy pud had some wild times there in the early years but one thing i will say if it is your first time it is a real eye opener this country is big and awsome |

all that is really important is, get your car serviced just before you go, make sure you have good tyres, and take plenty of bottled water. Apart from that just enjoy the drive, it should be on everyones to do list.

My quickest trip across was on a Fireblade. Did nearly 100 laps of Phillip Island all day, through the tunnel under the straight at 4:30pm on the Thursday afternoon shagged out from all the laps and was in Perth lunchtime Saturday.

Service the car and take enough water for 2 days, bog roll and cash for fuel. I nearly got caught out by eftpos not working last trip.
You will be really surprised at the amount of traffic on the Nullabor. It isn't the road to beyond like it used to be. But by god its boring. Take lots of breaks
