TC Cortina, stock from the outside except wide 12slotter wheels and slightly lower.
Under the hood was a clevo 351, roller rockers, triple springs, warm cam ( Think it may have been a 35-75 or 30-70 can't recall excactly), mallory dual point dizzy, holley 780 (that was a little too big), FMX box with shift kit, 9 inch diff.

Could spin if floored at anything under 80 k's/hr and very deadly in the wet.

If I ever win lotto I'll build another one of those.

brother build up a fully regoed `69 transit van with a tuff 351 clevo and fmx box. from the outside it looked like a stocko camper with the curtains, etc but went considerably better then the original 4 cylinder slug motor.

helped another mate fit a 351 clevo into a nissan 720 4x4 twin cab ute.

I had a 1994 EF Gli station wagon (one of the first built and only 264 EF wagon manuals were made). With 157kw driven through a 5 speed manual it really had a hidden jewel. Was last dynoed with 136rwkw admittingly with a cat back exhaust and some minor intake work) she was up there with most XR6's and some XR8 autos of similar vintage. Even compared to my AU XR6 HP it seemed torquer down low and had a clunk free driveline.

Performance, while its nothing to talk about in todays world, but she has dusted the odd 5.0L commodore and a vivid memory of a Jag S type sport screaming behind me. Exterior wise, I did add a colour coded rear sun deflector and Tickford EF XR8 wheels shod with Yoko A539 tyres. The car was lowered 1-1.5inches with an 18mm rear sway bar. It served life until 283k where it went to the pearly gates. Geez I miss this car...

the ultimate one must be that early cortina with the stockies widened on the back ,pee shooter exhaust and venitians in the back with the 460 under the hood that was getting around a few years back. I remember a 1600 datsun 20years ago, 2 lt turbo that ran 12s god did that thing go in 2nd gear.

Yes I remember seeing that car in street machine back in the 80's and to me it still remains the ultimate sleeper.

Also around Penrith in the 80's was a guy who fitted a 289 Windsor into a VW Beatle. I think he gave the 289 the flick and moved up to a 351 Windsor. It used to be painted matt black, then it went to a light blue colour. Last time I saw it, a few months ago it was red.

I had Moke that was sleeper back in the 80's. The bogans in Ipswich had no idea what to think when the little bugga took off.

It was only an 1100 engine but it had a 12G295 head these were an open chamber big port (for a Mini) head, it had bigger valves and was ported even more. It had a special cam grind and distributer remapped to match. Twin 1" 1/4 SU carbs that I flow modified to specs David Vizard set in his books. LCB extractors and single lukey muffler.

It was built to be a hill climb car but I ended up registering it. It was little animal that need AVGAS to run on. At the time getting AVGAS wasn't a problem for me.

I do miss the little fella.

Those Centura's were the devil in disguise IMO. There were a couple of examples here in SA some years back that were running the 265 with mild work and making v8's look like chumps.

*Hmm blueoval thinks to himself if its worth putting his stock rims back on for a more stealth approach*
