Best Winding Roads In Melbourne Area

as far as the great ocean road is concerrned, is the first 200 kms heading from Geelong the best part of that road, or is it best done as a whole over a few days, stopping at the icon places along the way?

IMO starting from Torquay ending at Warrnambool with best bits probably Angelsea to Port Campbell. Best spots (to stay) for me are Lorne, Apollo Bay or Port Campbell - I like each for different reasons (e.g. Apollo Bay is sleepy, loooong stretch of uncrowded beach, less frenetic than Lorne etc).

The Basin-Olinda road is not too bad as well, if you don't mind the dirt.

Rowsley (south of Bacchus Marsh) - Glenmore - Fiskville

Lilydale - Warburton - Reefton - Cambarville - Marysville (7km gravel)

Euroa - Merton

Bright - Mt Beauty - Running Creek - Ovens - Bright

Albury - Granya - Walwa - Corryong

Kiandra - Cabramurra - Corryong

Lavers Hill - Beech Forest - Tanybryn - Apollo Bay (all sealed now)

Highton (Geelong) - Ceres - Gnarwarre

Yep, sealed the whole way. Best parts (IMHO) are from Bruthen to Ensay, and then Mount Hotham to Harietville. Harietville through to Wangaratta is pretty broing.....
