I have the GT5 Prologue on PS3 and completed it in terms of progression. I have the Ferrari Formula One car. I can assure you that there were definitely a lot of restarts on certain tracks. Some of the times to beat were seemingly impossible, but I got there in the end. Can't wait for the full version!

That's one thing I disliked about the series. It's about getting within a bees dick of what the developer thinks is the best line around a track and if you miss it, restart... don't get me started on having to finish 3rd with various roadblocks driving around, oblivious to you. :

I'll probably still get it but Forza is head and shoulders above the GT series, IMO.

Forza is good with the v8's on there too. Despite the false starts I will probably still fall in the trap of getting GT5 when it comes out. I wonder if they push it back enough to release it with the option of 3D compatibility?

Only thing is, if you won one in a race, you'd probably be glad to get 100cr for it. Hell, you'd be lucky if they didn't implement a feature where you have to pay Sims metal 100cr to take it away!

Ive always loved the Gran Turismo games, but Grid is better :p The graphics dont really look any better than grid, for a game that hasnt even come out yet which is dissapointing

No word on the games release date yet, but they have released this.

Quote:
After revealing that the Mercedes SLS AMG is to grace the cover of Gran Turismo 5, we're pleased to bring you this brand new trailer offering a glimpse of it in motion.

It also demonstrates several new features of the latest Real Driving Simulator on PlayStation®3, including NASCAR and WRC events, damage modelling and night racing.

It would be a pity to include the world's most desirable supercars without placing them in fittingly stunning locations, and the tracks showcased in this video include Tokyo and Indianapolis. Look out for more trailers and screenshots from Gran Turismo 5 as we get closer to its release.

The high resolution version of this movie is also being distributed for free in "Gran Turismo TV" of "Gran Turismo 5 Prologue". If you own Gran Turismo 5 prologue, we invite you to take a look.

Gran Turismo 5: Possible October 2010 Release Date
Mar 15, 2010

Gamers from all over the world have definitely had to wait for quite some time now, for the highly anticipated release date for the new “Gran Turismo 5” video game. And now it looks like we are getting a little closer to knowing when that will be.
According to a recent report at vg247.com, while speaking at the Game Developers Conference that took place in San Francisco last week, a rep for Sony just happened to mention that the “Gran Tursimo 5” game will be releasing this October.

And the October release date appears to fall within the timeframe that was given by SCEE executive James Armstrong, back in February. SCEA executive Peter Dille also confirmed that the game will definitely be coming at some point this year.

If its any later than that I give up.

Guess its enough time to save for GT5 and a new steering wheel.

Wish I had of waited. Even if I bought a Bluray player in the interim, I'd probably be better off since I payed $700 for an 80gb system when less than a year later they had a slimmer model with 120gb for $500 :

I'm really looking forward to this game. Hopefully they'll have some FPVs in it like they did last time, can finally see what a GT and F6 do around the top gear test track!

I've noticed that you can preorder it at jb now. I really want to get the collectors edition.

Quote:
Whilst Sony's E3 Conference provided the long awaited release date for Polyphony Digital's anticipated Gran Turismo 5 title, its conclusion has brought news of a Collector's Edition for the title.

Priced at $99.99 RRP, the full list of contents are as follows:
- Sylish, premium packaging,
- exclusive 1:43 scale diecast Nissan GT-R Spec V,
- an in-depth 300-page car guide,
- a GT-branded key chain,
- a voucher for five DLC cars,
- a numbered certificate of authenticity.

Further details are as follows. Produced by popular collectible car maker Kyosho, the diecast Nissan GT-R Spec V is an exclusive item that features a custom Gran Turismo livery designed by Polyphony Digital.

The in-depth 300 page car guide is sure to be a key attraction for fans of the franchise, detailing a wealth of information that includes the history of the automobile, driving techniques, professional racing tips, car and engine basics, tuning hints and finall reference data regarding Gran Turismo 5.

The Collector's Edition itself is a limited run, so fans will definately want to get pre-orders in early. Those that do so, for either Standard of Collector's Editions, will also be able to claim a selecting of exclusive cars for the title, including the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, Nissan GT-R GT500, McLaren F1 and others. Each will feature a "stealth" livery custom-designed by Polyphony and also provide performance upgrades over their standard counterparts.

Gran Turismo 5 releases exclusively on PlayStation 3 on November 2nd 2010.
