Looks like Airlie Beach, Hamilton and Hayman Islands are right in line for it

Update from Mackay. I actually slept through it. Wife stayed up and panicked a bit. Still lots of people up here with no power. We lost it 9.30 pm Saturday. Heaps of powerline damage from trees and flying debri. Noone seriously hurt which is good. Mainly tree damage. The parks up here look like a cyclone went through . Have just gotten the power on to the main st of Airlie Beach from what i`ve heard. Backpackers up there have been doing it pretty tuff. Had no access to eftpos or banks so have had no money to buy food apparently.
Massive powerline damge in the Whitsunday area so i can`t see a lot of those people getting power for a while, especially those out of town. Mackay has sold out of generators and there are people even driving to Rocky to buy them.
I am kind of enjoying having no power. It`s most i`ve seen my kid in ages : Only lost one palm frond. Hope everyone else is fine.

One of the guys who works for me got home today from Airlie, they sat on the lee side of their house on the deck watching it coming across, and he also mentioned how when the eye crossed the sky was as clear as day then the other side of the wall came through. They had to drive to Bowen the next day to get food as everywhere else had sold out.

There's some good vids on youtube of hurricanes in the US, where a CAT 4 storm has hit with 250km winds, then they walk out into the sunny eye of the storm where it's dead calm then they retreat again as the other side comes through

Good stuff mate. Was hoping none of your cars got hurt. lol.
Thats how the guys in Rocky died apparently in the late 40's when we had a cyclone through. Went out in the eye up on the roof fixing and then bang blown off.

the whole thing was a bit strange as my father and his new family live in fiji ,so we both had cyclones at the same time ...they are all well and my old mans house had no damage ,unlike many houses in his village ,but they had some crazy tidal swells that lapped their floor he said .

hopefully that marks the end of another storm season ...untill next year
