On that note, I noticed the Mustang Motorsport Mustang pulled over on Fitzroy st after the Grand Prix. It's decked out as a replica police car, I'm not sure if it was pulled over for that reason or if it was for something else as I noticed it when I was walking past.

It's not a victimless nor harmless offence to impersonate a police officer. Get caught and you'll look at hefty fines, potential loss of licence and a criminal record with a custodial sentence. Flashing your high beams is one thing and can be argued in a court of law; fitting red and blue light bars is pretty cut and dry and their use would be hard to defend. All it takes is the wrong magistrate and you'll do weekend detention.

I agree it is a serious crime, I dont know why the article mad me laugh, I think it was more that the fake cop tried to get the motorist he pulled over to pay in cash, no one would be that stupid to pay, and imagine it was you that got pulled over, you would start laughing.

In S.A. they did . I remember seeing afew getting around. 2 Girls in a Focus with P-Plates used to get the boys to drag them to show off then nip you.

A Black VZ Exec, with Chromies and [BUSTED] plates.

A VZ SS Ute

Acouple of Typhoons

And you have the STAR Force cruising the Town - Bay route in their 200 Series Land Cruisers

i actually found a place online (was a while back. cant remember the site) where you could buy legit cop lights (with sequencer etc) for mounting on your dash

had to prove you were in the force to buy them though

ive been very tempted to set up a fake set..
bunch of LEDs mounted on the parcel shelf and black box with LEDs on the front.

i notice when other cars have them (unmarked cops, parking officers etc) and keep wondering if people would actually move over just from noticing the lights housing
