Bait and Switch, also illegal.

No wonder used car salespeople have such a bad rep.

Dial 1831 and then the number. Test to another phone with caller ID to see if it successfully blocks the number before calling for real.

If I wanted to check the km's on my cars ECU would I be able to buy something to do it myself? Would any of the flash tuners on the market have the capabilities?

Now how to get the guy arrested?
Is there a register of RWC's handed out for specific VIN #'s? If not maybe something like this should be implemented.

I might give him a call tonight and ask him how he was able to keep NSW plates for 3 years in VIC.

Yes, No

You need an OBD2 scan tool. A PC/laptop, and the knowledge to pull the data from the ECU. It's not something most people can do.

When i was spending a bit of time looking at the Auctions in Melbourne, i got pretty familiar with the cars that were, cars that were coming up etc.
Around that time, i found a few, both on Ebay and Carsales, that had been advertised for sale by a member of the public.
Most people wouldnt know, or even question it but when i know that same car is still sitting at the auctions waiting to go under the hammer, theres no way in hell someone else has any title over it to put it up for sale.

There are some honest people selling cars out there. I bought a little "German Taxi" last year.
.... The Ad stated "no speedo tampering here "

Just gave him a quick call myself and asked about a quick history of the car and was advised that he is the second owner since new, has always being serviced at his local Ford Dealer etc etc..

I then asked what dealer and "he couldnt remember".... (maybe if we can find this out it would be good on tracking down who stamped the book again? if that happened)

I asked had he received any other offers and he said he has a few interests but no offers. I asked about the kms on the car and asked were they city or country kms and he said "country". I said what ones were country kms? he said "what do you mean?" i replied and said the first hundred thousand or the second hundred thousand?

If I lived down there, I would arrange to come look at the car. You then have an address, a description of the seller, a VIN to do follow up checks with, and can have his *** busted.

Tell him you'll think about it, then give the info to the cops. Easy.

After looking at a few BF's today i found one example that had 68,000kms on the clock and looked as if it had been to the moon and back, the white text on the dash buttons and steering wheel buttons was half rubbed off on the majority of them, Front bumper full of stone chips, Worn out seats and foot pedals

from what ive seen i wouldnt be suprised if people are making a living buying high mileage cars interstate cheap and reregistering them here with wound back odometers to sell to people who dont know any better
