My first car back in 1989 was a XP ute that i ended up heavily modifiying, at that time my dad had a XF "S" pack efi manual and the modded XP coupe. Fords were all i grew up around as a kid (hell when i was born in 73 my dad owned a XW GTHO phase1 and my uncle owned a Phase3)

when i was young.....so much younger than today (i'll spare you the rendition) i wanted a smallish car that wasn't an effing gemini, wasn't a 1.6 but rather a 2ltr and wasn't going to break the bank, the answer was a ford escort....although knowing their reputation in rallying and cutting my teeth in an RS2000 may have had something to do with it too

Same as a lot of other, Dad was a ford man. In fact for the first 25 years of my life there was a ford V8 of one kind or another in my family...

My dad always drove pommy crap (Morris 1100, P76) but always said he wanted a duck egg blue (Polar White) XW.

My brother bought a mint XY Fairmont wagon (302, Ultra white with burgundy interior) when I was 14 and after that I was always going to have one as my first car.

I did, it looked great but wouldn't pull a sick sailor off your sister. I diverted to a sigma, a commodore, back to Fords, the to a VX SS and now a couple of EL's in the garage.

Anything non-Ford has been less reliale and less enjoyable to own.

Was looking at a new car, found a nice VN SS in Atlas grey that I wanted, the old man then told me if I bought it not to bother coming home, AU XR8 it was then and have bought Fords since.

when I was younger, my mum had a falcon ( but it was purely coincidental as it was one of the cheapest from the wrecking yard my grandparnts owned), and I had always idolised Marcos Ambrose when I was about that age too. I had always assumed my dad was a ford man too, until a couple of months ago when he told me he had liked holdens! My first car I bought a few months ago to do up is a 1971 F100!

First car in the family in my lifetime was a VB or VC wagon. Existed until 1987 when some drunken old sod with a 0.165 BAC smashed up the back of it on Warragul Road.
Sort of a blessing in disguise as it didn't have aircon and with three booster seats in the back, it was bloody tight!

From there, the old man got an XF Wagon from Melford. It was the only car on the market that could sit three kids in the back comfortably, with air conditioning too!
Went on many holidays in the back seat of that car...Gold Coast in 1990 was by far the most memorable (I was 7! I was in awe of the place!). Eildon many, many times, Halls Gap 5 times, Echuca 3 times, Swan Hill twice, Lakes Entrance 3 times...and many other places too...

While hardly the most comfortable or refined car, it was a great workhorse vehicle that could carry massive loads in the boot and seat 5 people.

Got the VTII in 2000 and still have it. It is showing its age. I mooched off my parents for a long time.

Bought a BFII XT last year with less than 40,000 on the clock. The VEs look terrible (especially in Omega form) and given the premium on them since they are a 'current' body shape, it was not worth it.

I got the best car I could afford and am very happy.

But in terms of being young and buying Fords....hmm...27 now. I will change brands if it suits my needs. I want to support Australian, but there is choice out there.
I want to stick with Ford's product as long as it's RWD.

If not, then I'll look at Subaru as an AWD. Every single person I know who has a Subaru cannot speak highly enough of the car or the service.

Last year I read that Subaru gets a very high number of repeat customers.

When I was 14 my Dad traded his old Austin A70 in on a brand new XK Falcon waggon, the first new car that he ever owned, I was most impressed. Three years later I learnt to drive in it. I was hooked!

Since then I have owned 2 Prefects, a Morris Minor, a Mk1 Cortina, 3 new Escort Vans, an AP6 Valiant waggon, a Fiat 1100, a Hillman Minx, an XE Falcon Van, and a Chrysler Stigma.

I currently own an Isuzu 4wd Ute, a Subaru Forrester, an XM Falcon, a ZL Fairlane, and an SY AWD Territory.

The Subaru may be the most reliable car that I have owned, but the Territory is by far the most enjoyable car to drive, leaves everthing else for dead.

So 10 out of the 17 cars that I have owned have been Fords, all down to my Father buying a new Falcon in 1961.

There will always be a Ford in my future

I am proud to say that I have never owned a Toyota.

My family were all holden owners throughout my child hood, and i suppose being the black sheep of the family didnt want to follow tradition and for some reason allways loved the ford badge, maybe it was the struggle of the ford V holden battle that made me choose sides?? maybe it was the underdog in me that thought anything was possible. When i bought my AU falcon and gave it to my mum to drive down the street, she too fell in love with the blue oval.... How funny is this, now one of my sisters is driving a falcon, my parents traded in the commo wagon for a falcon wagon, my other sister said that when her commo dies she will be buying a falcon..... But there is one in my family that i will not convert and thats my older brother lol but hey what started as individuality and turned into common house garaging is all rather funny.

Marcos Ambrose, plain and simple..i was about 8 and everyone in my family was die hard holden, old man even bought me a HRT cap. As i started growing older Ambrose came about and being a easily influenced 13 year old his domination turned me to Ford, ie they were always winning, fords must be better than holdens..i fell in love with the BA XR8 and even turned my old man into a blue blood.

My uncle has a 68 XT 500 Ute w/ 302 windsor. bought it in 1969
hasnt bought another car since then
its still registered and used twice to three times a week in 2011
done about 140,000 miles in its time. uncle doesnt go drive too far

Mother had an XA Falcon sedan when I was born and six weeks later it may of saved my life
Had a massive wreck with a guy driving a Valiant hardtop (we were standing still at the intersection, he was doing 140 Km/h asleep at the wheel) sister was in one of the earliest child seats and I was in a cane bassinet
both cars rolled several times, going away from each other, landing at opposite paddocks which are only 1 km away from where I currently reside.

All of us were injured but it was me who suffered the most. PT gland doesnt work (need tablets to do so) and needed strong meds for me to grow to 6 ft. was only going to be 4 foot something otherwise.

Achieved the dream of owning a 2 door in 1995

Have owned 3 falcons including the current AU XR

I got my first Ford in 1992,was an XF Ghia 1985.It had 107th klms and i knew the car from new.
They were going for around 14-15g at the time and i got it for 10g
I had it for a few years and looked after it well.Sold it for 11g

I owned a 1976 lx torry with a 400 chev turbo'd and that was the only one he would work on other than that he told me outright that if i ever bought a commy he would refuse to work on it

he was as happy as a pig in poo when i bought the xf then the poo hit the fan as i went overseas and didnt make payments on the xf and it got repoed i then got a camira wagon for about 6 months then was back in a falcon ea

then i purchased the EL and hope to have that for a long time yet ( cant wait for the aff drags this year )

I got turned onto ford in the charger vs monaro vs cobra schoolyard battles. I thought the XB honeycomb was the sexiest ever. But when I was about 17 and could scrape togethor the funds I couldn't really afford one; so I got an XA superbird instead. Soon had it painted a more fashionable midnight blue. But HQ-HZ were the things to buy; nearly everbody had a white one with a 253 4speed and hotwires.

It had bad rust then. The tow-bar could move a foot up and down. I found the sills were full of wet sand and the inner rear guards were made out of flyscreen and bathroom sealant. Soon after it was painted I swapped it for a compact fairlane... Chunks of bog would fall out of it. I am sure it has long since gone to coupe heaven. Originally it was lime green, resprayed after a front end collision, so the grille was lost and the scoops and louvre weren't put back on by the time it went.

Come from a devout Holden family, followed Brocky & Co religiously and pined for a Group C VC/H Commodore in Marlbro Red/White scheme - but I got addicted to Fords watching Ari Vartennen throwing Escorts around at ridiculous speeds rallying.

First car was a Mini that I quickly bombed to the eyeballs and drove the wheels off it for a couple of years. Then 21 years ago I spotted the RS2000 in the backlot of the local Ford dealer - the rest is just history.

Just to prove I'm a real, honest to god card carrying ford fan I went an bought an AU....

And i can still honestly say i like the ford better. Just something about the ed falcon i will always like over anything dispite have more powerful and new cars in my life!

VY SS
68' Charger
69' Corvette

The older stuff while the stuff of dreams, it wasnt going to be practical,
I found the SS to be backwards in its layout, its power delivery and just uncomfortable to drive.

The Ford seemed to be more refined and nice to drive, and the interior layout suited me

I can do some of the servicing myself, and any issues, as long as they're not major can be solved, with some help from here Many of the jap cars are great but i always grew up with big cars, so anything smaller look like toys to me.

My parents got a new car just before i was born, they got a shiny monza red XF GL, nothing special but it served us 5 well for over 20 years before its retirement, it showed me how well built falcons were and if treated right will go for a very long time, my dad also had an XW wagon but that was sold when i was about 6
