I like the subdued looks of it, very subtle.

Maybe it’s just me but I don’t think the E63 looks too bad.
It usually doesn’t matter what car it is, everything comes down to colour choice, presentation and such, you can get it right and you can get it wrong. A quick video. http://youtu.be/ow2TZFekIgM And of course the 6.2 litre V8 is to be superseded and the new 2012 models are coming out with the 5.5 litre twin turbo V8. . The car is 73K pounds in the UK which is not the cheapest country when it comes to cars, it’s still however only about 120K Australian dollars. In the USA this car will be about 90K if not even less … It’s a shame that Australian pricing will be triple that :(:(:(:(

it is absolutely horrendous how much we have to pay for luxury cars here - and the thing is even if it was the 73k pounds plus the 33% tax it would still be okay at $150k - AUD. where does the other $100k odd come from on Australian pricing

Australian car pricing is frustrating as hell I agree. Its unavoidable though - our market is so miniscule, and the costs of selling cars in Australia goes a lot further than just building and shipping them.

Don’t forget other countries have taxes on luxury items too so the luxury car tax is hardly an excuse … our currency hasn’t been weak for ages so that’s not an excuse either …
What does make Australia unique is the protectionism our beloved government has established here … i.e. there is effectively no competition when it comes to importing cars into this country so in effect you got a market monopoly for each car brand. I.e. any average Joe just cannot import a brand new BMW from the UK and only pay for the transportation (a few grand via a ship) as the laws here simply do not allow for that. |
