monaro CV8 all wheel drive, only one i can think ofmade in the last 20 years in australia, limited number, 2 door, probably wont get any aussie n2 doors ever again and all wheel drive. ultimately it wont matter how good a car it is it will be down to collectobility, my 2 cents worth anyway. id love it to be a ford but thats life

Interesting mix of responses, I was thinking some of the T's series with the hand built motors, as well as the HSV coupes.
I get what people are saying about the electronic component, my LS1 has got a million blessed sensors on it, I could probably program it to tell me what coloured underwear Kate Middleton was wearing if I really tried! |

5.4L-powered FG XR8. Although they had such an under performing engine from new (until Holden de-tuned the SS), they might one day end up collectible due to the the fact there are a lot less of them. Modern Monaros especially the HSV models will be rather collectible too.

AU XRs and T-Series (Series 1,2 and 3) Because the AU shape is so different to any other Falcon, last of the Tickfords, hand built engines.

In the very near future, i reckon alot more valiants will be starting to push with prices other than the already sought after charger and the upper spec pacers. Having a fetish for them and owning a couple, they are starting to get thin and prices are rising for a stocker spec CL/CM.
Other than the Sprints and the GT's, i dont see any E series that would be sought after enough to be called a classic (perhaps a FBT?), there is too many parts that are interchangable, the V8's were underpowered and the 6's didnt have a real "hot package" like the E38/49 spec chargers compared to run of the mill hemi vals or the supercharged 6 equipped holdens over the emotec v6's. Possibly the VR/VS Senators with the stroker and 6 speed combo on top of the already popular Group A SS, Aero, GTS...

i believe its all about demand over numbers built/still remaining
once just about all of the new falcons become old there will be only a certain (good) amount left, i have personaly seen 3 eb xr8 been scraped to sims, now once it becomes only a few hundred left, i guess thats when prices will increase. a bit like anything with a factory fitted 351..............

My guesses in no particular order:
Tickford T3's EB & EL gt's Cosworth RS sierras HSV monaro Awd Coupe & GTO's Tickford and FPV utes in particular the P250 with the stroker engine and the FPV derivatives. If the falcon as we know it stops after 2015 at the end of the FG series run anything with a FPV badge will be sought after. Suprised that ESP's have not gone up in value like I would have thought however they are still worth roughly what they were worth new in good condition. I would love one in my collection.

IMO:
- EB & EL GT - ED Sprint - All T-series vehicles - NL Fairlane by Tickford - Brock EA From the red camp: - VT Series 1 V8s (namely SS & Clubsport) - That VS Clubbie with the stroker - *maybe* the XU6 - VN SV5000 |

Being an AU XR8 owner I'm sort of biased, and obviously hoping I'm right, but I could see AU XR series holding their values a bit in the future, basically because the V8s with premium brakes offer similar performance to the ED XR8 sprint with lower prices (currently) and better availability. That's basically why I bought mine. Not so sure whether the appearance will work for or against them in the long run though - less common is good but ugly is bad....

EBII S-XR6. The best looking Falcon. Ever. In my humble opinion
Edit: That being said, I'm going to hang onto my EF for a while, anyway. Even if it does get replaced, it is still a nice car to drive, and turns heads.

What makes a classic?
What made the GTHO Ph3 such a desirable classic? The obvious things are: 1. race heritage (Bathurst) with matching performance and looks 2. limited numbers 3. variant of a car available that many jo blows drive What pushed the prices up? 4. unobtainable but very desirable to average jo blow at the time 5. obtainable to jo blow once the mortgage and kids have moved on What cars since then meet this criteria? Ford GT and FPV Monaro CV8 Holden HSV Tickford Fords RS Fords Ford Coupes others I'm sure |

XD Falcons and VK/L Commodores.
They aren't hugely expensive yet, but they've gone from Being ok examples for <$1000 to now >$3000 for similar examples. Just a guess at best anyway.

Series 3 TS TE50s and P250 utes.
A lot of xr6 turbos and such are getting molested so maybe a 100% standard fully optioned low km example may be worth something? |

I have sort of changed my mind about the NEXT classic and something that has not been posted yet, XD, XE 351 ESP, will probably be before a lot of the others mentioned. I believe for a car to become a classic it must have had some sort of impact on a generation that could not afford to own them when new, the people that can afford a new FG GT today will not worry about them, but the kid thats dreaming about one now, but can not afford one, might snap one up in 20 or 30 years time, and do a no expenses spared resto. I remember a friends father buying a brand new 4 speed 351 XE ESP with the works around the time I started driving and I used to drool over it every time I saw it. Bit like some of the (kids 18-25) I work with now when I come to work in my BF GT putting out close to 400rwhp. This might have the impression on them where one day the will restore an old BF GT. This is why the days of the X series GT's high prices are numbered as the people that can relate to them will soon be too old to bother. The youmg kids of today will probably buy Subaru sti's or Skyline's to restore when they hit their 40's |

I think the latest GT is going to go down in history in australia.its the only supercharged factory v8 i can think of and it has heaps more power than any other model.
You need a lot more than a car beeing rare to be a collectable classic. ed,au,ba,bf,fg falcons(besides the supercharged ones)are all dime a dozen.you can pick up any of these for a third of the new price. THE WAY PETROL IS HEADING BUY SOMTHING THAT LOOKS GOOD BECAUSE YOU WONT BE DRIVING TO OFTEN. |
