Paull - list of long wheelbase Fords is amazing. Yeah I sometimes look for BF Lane/LTD as a daily. Cool car cheap to run, (well better than the TS anyway)

I would still love to own one of the last BF LTD's, such a nice car with all the (now) modern lux.
Either that or go completly opposite and get something from the Z heritage |

This thread is making me miss my 84 FD LTD.
Sitting in the shed, gathering dust as it has been since Australia Day when it got defected. Regency job too, so its gonna be a while before it will be cruising again :(

Fairlanes\ltd are like a well respected citizen amongst ford fans.
Like a veteran, paid its dues. To me they command respect by all ford fans. I also think statesmans hold similar respect even by ford fans I wont ever pick on a fairlane or statesman |

Always wanted a P6 Silver Monarch - that just takes the cake in terms of luxury and sheer awesomeness.
Dont know if i will ever buy one though, a decent one is hard to find and decents ones are always wanting too much money for them. Always like the NL as well. Had a Zl but it died of rust. |

The AUs have always been special to me, simply for the amount of effort put into to distinguishing them from the base Falcon. The AU LTDs were very schmick - even had its own interior colour you couldnt get in any other Falcon/Fairlane.

I will always have a soft spot for the old LWB Fords. The first car I ever drove was my Dad's ZH 500 302c. I was 14, and we had had it since I was about 6. That car is now long gone unfortunately, but the memories remain and Fairlanes will remain close to me.
My top 5 incidently (in chronoligical order): ZD Fairlane (love those stacked headlamps) ZH Fairlane (For obvious reasons) FD LTD (What other car had blacked out tail lights from the factory?) NL Fairlane Concorde (remember seeing these around everywhere when I was a kid, always wanted one) AU T3 TL50 (Fastest LWB Ford ever built, pity theyr'e so rare) |

Gotta love the AU Fairlane, probably the classiest of the lot IMO. They look awesome and crap all over the AU Fairmont, whereas you'd struggle to tell the difference in E and B series.
If I had the money and space I would have a shed full of new and old Fairlanes. One of my dream rides is a ZG with factory AC and column auto. My granny had one for years, the thing was absolutely immaculate, original white duco looked like porcelain. She sold it for $700 to some guy who obviously loved it as much as I did. Then put the $700 towards a Daewoo We also had a ZJ 351 way back when - it was a pretty posh car in my eyes back then, it had electric windows! And a big slab dashboard with lots of switches.

I don't like them.
They don't looks 'sporty' enough, plus unless you are a taxi driver or constantly have adults in the back I don't see the need for the additional room. Sorry, but they just don't interest me. Would take an XR or Fairmont Ghia/G6E any day over a Fairlane/LTD. |
