Did see on the news this morning they started yesterday removing the fuel from the vessel and were to work through the night but prevailing bad weather prevented that so A LOT of the fuel remained on board and it looks like the weather isnt getting any better.
90 tonnes of fuel was removed.

Estimated heavy fuel oil on board = 1700 tonnes
Estimated heavy fuel oil lost = 350 tonnes Estimated heavy fuel oil pumped off = 150 tonnes Only an estimated 1200 tonnes to go. I have this week seen for myself the mess this has caused Last I heard they were pumping at 2 tonne per hour |

wow those salvage guys really did great work to get all those containers off the stern!!
but not the sort of job i would want to do no matter what the pay! Edit: just realised theres several large "hire" generators on the stern and looks like more along the sides of the ship? oops

these big ships get into trouble way to often, see the Italian cruise ship laying on it`s side, it hit a reef and sank/toppled over, at this stage 40 missing, in this day and you would think we would`nt be having any more titanics.

20 + years ago i thought i might make a living on ships, i was to be working in the engine room, i had the medical and was ready to go, but prior to my leave date there was a spate of ship sinkings, one after the other for many months, i had a change of heart .
