I think if the debate dumbs down to which has the most RWKW or which is quicker over the 1/4 we've lost total and complete sight about what the C63 is about and what it represents...
My first Merc was a fantastic experience, from the dealer interaction to the drive day to the cars themselves it was a first class experience. To define what the C63C is to me can be summed up with a few words; refined, opulent, harmony, symphony, image, status, presence, involving, rewarding.... Ive never driven a sedan that involves and rewards you as much as this car does.. The product has set new sales records for AMG in Australia and would out number HSV/FPV vehicles in some areas 3:1... Yes it is.
If you get to drive one you wouldn't need to ask such a question.

But if we are comparing RWKW, 1/4 mile times etc, yeah maybe the GT will be quick in a straight line but as soon as the first bend comes i reckon i know what will be in front. And for me thats what i enjoy, going around corners straight lines bore me. GT is still very good BFYB.

Ill bet anything AMG have far more than 2.5 times FPV's R+D budget and sales too.... Its all relative to what you have to play with. FPV do an outstanding job. Last edited by AMGC63; 22-10-2011 at 03:14 PM. |

I've driven a current model C63. It is a very rapid machine. Straight line, it feels like its only marginally quicker at best compared to my XR6T. Around corners... thats another story . It handles and stops like nothing else. The interior feels liks its carved from a single piece of wood, it is that well screwed together and the quality of materials used is second to none. There is a massive amount of snobbery that washes over you when you're piloting one of these. As much as I enjoyed the car, I felt dirty when I handed the keys back to the owner.
Is it worth the $150k we pay for them here... hell no. Is it worth the $70 - 80k that the good folk in the US and A pay, hell yes. At that sort of money... you'd find that it would be a very blue blooded (and thus very rare) soul that would pick a current GT/GT-P over a C63. --------------------------------- Having said that, by spending $25 - 30k on mods, my XR6T would make the C63 look like a toy on the track. Yes, the money will never be recouped, but it would be a very unique car. |

Its obviously not that simple, id love to know what the C classes budget is like compared to the falcons..LOL..for that reason alone you just cannot compare them properly.
That and the pansy C63 is auto only. ...(thats sarcasm for the serious people out there). But honestly, for a weekend warrior the auto only kills it for me, seems like you have that awesome engine and you dont get to play with it properly. |

......... bit like asking is the $485,000 difference between a F149 Ferrari and a Mazda MX5 worth it? They both have 2 doors, 4 tyres and a steering wheel?

Perhaps, but I dont think Merc really have any big hitting manual V8's, can the SLS even be optioned with one? They all have super dooper smooth "smart" 7/8 autos. |

There's something a little weird with prices in Australia, on MB's UK website,
the C63 sedan has an on the road price from £55,565.00...LINK I'm no expert but around AU $90,000 for a UK RHD version is a lot less than the ridiculous prices charged here even with LCT removed... Make you think car companies see luxury cars as an excuse to charge whatever they like in different parts of the world.. |

I think we all could find someone that's had a horror run with most car co's. Unfortunately its a bit of a crap shoot these days and with the amount of money these things cost it shouldn't be. It's not like any of these co's started building cars yesterday! |

Lets put it this way.....if they were both the same price....which one would you lay your coin down for and why ??
With the current price disparity , its easy to make the judgements and criticisms either way....but if you had to choose only 1 and they were both the same price....how would you justify one over the other ?

My understanding is that unlike our FPVs being a falcon shell with go fast bit bolted on retrospectively, the C63 has it's own body shell and no interchangeable parts with a C-class Merc.
Someone might be able to confirm this. |

Not sure all of you have heard but the C63s are getting issues were the crankshafts are snapping for them not being heat treated properly currently its being investigated by AMG, not trying to downplay the car its an awesome beast but just putting the message out there.

Lol is the C63 AMG worth 2.5 times the car of a FPV GT or 3 times the price of a STi. Hulk mate you need to come up with better material
BTW that C63 in the earlier posts is ******* hot. I think I creamed myself |

There is nothing like a C63! Nothing. Im a Ford man through and through but the quality and sheer performance out of these AMGs are scary! Those that believe they are "marginally" quicker then a XR6T or any FPV standard are in denial! These cars are weapons producing 800NM of Torque!!!
Reality, the 335 is a muscle car and amazing at that! But the C63 is not compairable! Not now, not for the forseeable future either!

The C63 is not my cup of tea. And so not to offend Eurolovers, ill leave it at that.
To answer the question, yes it is. And so it should be, just wouldnt catch me dead in one, even if I won it. Id sell it & march over to my nearest FPV dealer. And with my spare change, drive my new 335 GT over to Herrods.... Shouldnt be surprising, given im on a Ford forum and all.... |

Although a brilliant engine.......my money would be on the FPV Coyote to spank it over the 1/4 and 1 mile. Doesn't make the FPV a better car, but I'd be confident the FPV would hand the BENZ its quad pipes on a plate.......

C63 AMG is 6.3 N/A 336kw 600nm and it would smack any factory falcon, hsv etc any day of the week. All this obsession with 1/4 mile times these days in relation to how one car is better than another means nothing if the car doesn't stop and handle. Which the C63 does, in spades ! |
