Some apparently true "facts" about Kim haha

1. According to his official biographers, his birth in 1941 in Baekdu Mountain was apparently prophesied by a swallow and heralded with a double rainbow and a new star in the heavens.

2. He's really got a thing about pizza and his pizza programme came to fruition in 2009. He had brought a group of Italian chefs to Pyongyang in the 90s to train army officers on how to create the perfect pizza.

3. A near-obsessive film buff and a fan of Elizabeth Taylor in particular, his his 20,000-strong video library has his all time favourites including Rambo, Bond and Godzilla. Kim ordered the kidnapping of Shin Sang-ok, the South Korean film director, and his actress wife, Choi Eun-hee, in 1978 in order to build up North Korea's film industry. They made seven films before escaping to the West in 1986.

4. Kim apparently produced a patriotic 100-part documentary series on the history of his North Korean homeland as well as writing a book entitled On the Art of Cinema.

5. Kim also composed six operas and enjoyed staging musicals, says his offi cial biography.

6. He reportedly spread the myth across North Korea that he could control the weather with his moods, as if by magic.

7. He was hailed as a demi-god style guru though he was a vain playboy with a fad for bouffant hair, jumpsuits and platform shoes to make him look taller.

8. He travelled by private train for state visits - a decision connected to his fear of flying, a phobia he was believed to share with his father. His private train journeys were luxurious with live lobsters being airlifted daily to his train, despite the millions left behind starving due to famine.

9. Last month, he reportedly gave 160 Mercedez-Benz cars out among his highestranking party officials despite a UN ban on luxury exports to North Korea.

10. Reports say that he would refuse to consume anything not produced in North Korea - but made an exception of French wine as reflected in the 10,000 strong collection of bottles in his cellar.

11. Jong Il was the world's biggest buyer of Hennessy cognac between 1992 & 1994, according to the drinks company.

12. In 2007, a German rabbit breeder, Karl Szmolinsky, said he suspected the North Korean leader had served up the giant rabbits he sent to Pyongyang for a food production programme during his 65th birthday celebration.

He spent most of the countries money on the military while millions starved. Had the whole country brain washed. And his son is supposed to be just as bad/wacko.

This is true - apparently it was witnessed by 17 of his bodyguards (who would have been threatened with death otherwise).

And now for some breaking news...

"PYONGYANG, NORTH KOREA—In surprisingly candid remarks today following his father's death, Kim Jong-un, heir apparent to North Korea's highest government post, expressed doubt that he was sufficiently out of his mind to succeed longtime dictator Kim Jong-il."

I spoke to a good mate who lives in Seoul and the explanation was simply 'it's a Korean thing'. They don't do the first son thing like we did, or do. The third son is considered to be the successor.

Anyways, let's hope he's not the nut job like his father and grandfather. Probably will be.

Would be good to have the Koreas united, but there's less of a desire now in the South, although the south does consider them to be the same people. It is a very sad place when you speak to people who have families in the north.

The eldest son fell out of favour after attempting to enter Japan on a fake passport and went to Disneyland in 2001. Why this mattered I'm not so sure but it's why he wasn't chosen as the successor...
