i am a p plater, and i drive a little aggressively (its the car honest ), but i don't speed, especially in built up areas, and i cant see the point in doing burnouts and stuff like that, fuel costs too much, tyres cost too much and cars just cost way too much to fix if you do stuff up, out here in rural qld i am amazed at the cars you see on the road, most would never pass a roadworthy in a million years and most are driven by p platers, also toowoomba has some of the worst drivers i have ever seen, the amount of close calls and stupid stuff you see is phenomenal

i think people are just stupid. i dread driving through pennant hills on my way north, because every single time there are at least two idiots lane-splitting without taking the immense effort to flip their indicator on.

Anyway his brain snapped suddenly and started getting right up behind me, I couldnt go faster as there was a white SUV thing in front and there was a car next to me that I was overtaking, so I waited until I could get over into the left lane to let him pass. But soon as I started to move over, he cut across in front of the car that we just passed, accelerating like a lunatic, just as we passed an intersection where a car was joining the left lane, right in front of him. So he then swerved into the extreme left merging lane to pass that car, then suddenly swerved right across both lanes of traffic again as there was another car in front of him, his foot with the pedal still stuck to the floor. Must have got in front of the few cars in front of me, as he disappeared ahead. Serious collision could easily have happened, especially when looking at the body language of that Fairlane when avoiding all the cars that got in his way, as he was probably doing well over 100kph while everyone else was doing 80-85. Yes, must be the silly season, but where are the police, as the cameras wont stop this stupidity. |

VL commodores are driven by the safest drivers.
In fact, 90% of commodores are driven by very responsible young people. I swear i'm not lying. |

This thread makes me feel so glad i just got full compo ins
*hugs NRMA* Seriously though, yes there are alot more idiots on the road, especially at this time of year. Honestly most of us have been there, done that. Although i have never been in any sort of accident ever, i drive too defensively, which NOBODY ELSE on the roads seems to do anymore.

Think I know which stretch of road you are talking about. Either way, the one I am thinking of is notorious for people doing at least 30 over the limits
And this seems to be a bit of a trend in Lake Mac- not too long ago there were a couple of people caught street racing on the inner city bypass. Around the same speed and all (one if them was in an Astra!!!), got their cars confiscated too from memory. Hope the courts make an example out of them....

In a word, yes. People are getting dumber. It's amazing, we have more information, more education on consequences etc... but it doesn't save us.

Since I've bought my Territory I've enjoyed using the cruise control. I use it often on the highways and freeways to prevent me from accidentally speeding which is just so easy in a Territory or a Falcon. The cops over here basically have a zero kmh tolerance to speeding. The amount of people who basically boot bump the hell out of me is incredible. From young girls to old grannies. Everyone wants to do 20kmh over the limit, which is fine if they want to, but GO AROUND ME FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree the amount of people that tailgate on highways when there are 2 or more free lanes is absolutely mind blowing.
Yes people sometimes i do cruise at 90-100km/h deal with it

i think people are getting more stupid . young people in sydney will not say hi to anyone anymore, dont seem to think there are consequences for doing something wrong , example get caught by the police d.u.i and no licence and laugh at themselves as if they were just unlucky . i would've had a pulse of 200 and thought my life was over .
to me that is desensitized and absolutely more stupid . not the fact that they do these things people have always done such things . but not recognising it as a big deal seems to me they are more stupid . |

I see it day-in-day-out ... there's a considerable amount of crazy people out on our roads.
And just watching RBT tonight as well ... the amount of people out there that still think drinking and driving is acceptable as well. My inlaws recently were involved in an accident ... due to someone crossing to a side street from a dual carriageway ... in a hurry and was T-boned .... and then pushed into my inlaws vehicle. You can be minding your own business one minute and be involved in an accident due to someone elses stupidity. Accident could have been worse I guess ... but to think that people aren't thinking about their family and the consquences ... especially this time of year ... it's scary to say the least.
